HEADS UP Travel Channel Wednesday Nite "Safe at Sea"

That is very sad. I saw that on the news. It's always sad when something like that happens.

I watched the show on the Travel Channel and found it to be very interesting, but most of the things I had already read about. I wonder what it's going to take to stop all this from happening.

I think that many changes will happen within the cruise industry. Smoking will probably be banned in ALL passenger cabins. A misdirected ash could easily catch bedding ablaze. Irons are not allowed, because if a hot iron tips over, it could ignite rugs or bedding.

Bartenders should have the authority to "shut off" heavily intoxicated passengers, as they do in landbased bars.

Well, we watched it on the repeat and noticed several things: someone said the cruise lines were not named for the most part: true but you see waiters walking around with drinks that say "fun ship" I think that pretty much let's most know, plus the X on the Celebrity ship, etc. As for learning or finding it interesting, I would have been more impressed had there been about 90% less commercials. To me this was just a typical hype program. Barb, I know what you mean about the bar tenders controlling the amount of booze, but golly I hate to see the blame fall back on them. We are adults, we know what alcohol can do and we need to accept responsibility for our actions. As for the gal that disappeared on the Alaskan cruise, I remember hearing about this and believe it has been pretty much determined she either committed suicide or has choosen to disappear. Of all the cases that one was probably the worst handled one. NMNita
