Pools and Jacuzzis- Late night. In a word, no.

I have yet to be on any ship that kept them open late. usually the pools (which are salt water) are emptied at night and filled fresh the next morning (or maybe later that night- I honestly don't stay up to watch!)

Now it is possible that the "indoor" pool- (The one under the dome or sliding cover) might- I am not sure, but I am fairly certain the answer is no.

If you happen to find out I am wrong, Please do tell, as it is something I would love to do! In fact, it's getting near time to fill the spa in our basement. It's mighty nice to sit in a steamy hot spa with snow glistening outside the sliders. So glad we opted to put it indoors instead of on the deck. It would not have gotten any use in winter, and the cover no doubt would have had to be replaced by now. (For those of you who wonder about an indoor spa, we use Bromine, not Chlorine, so no smell, and a good tight cover keeps the heat and moisture in the spa.) Although I did do the heated pool and spa and run through the snow back to our cabin and fireplace at Squaw Valley/Tahoe once! Whew! Bracing!

Karie,

who loves a late night dip in the spa before bed!

Quick question -

Does anyone kow how late the pools & jacuzzi's are "open for business"?

Any chance for a late-night dip?

I'm fairly certain that the open Jacuzzi at the back is open reasonably late. I only say that as, on the last transatlantic crossing we did, there were a couple in there about 8:30ish ... that stuck out in my mind as everyone else was all 'formaled up' at the time.

Not sure about much later than that though.

I can't answer for the QM but on the QE I think that the Jacuzzis are open on a 24 hour basis - I've seen people in them after I've been to the midnight buffet. The same would go for the outdoor pool (It's not emptied every evening - or whenever I've seen it it has had water in it unless the weather's bad - I've not seen it at times like 4-00am, but as it takes upwards of six hours to heat the water they'd have to empty it by midnight); likewise the pool in the spa will only be open spa hours; the pool in the gym will only be open gym hours. You'd need to check the daily programme to see what that said.

Greetings to all,

The days are flying past....the 18th will be here before we know!

Baiba and I plan to have a pre sailing drink in the Golden Lion Pub around 4:00pm. This will give plenty of time to be on deck or on balcony for our 6:00pm departure. Please come and raise a glass with us. Let's put faces with names.

My wife and I will endevour to join you both. Our first port of call around that time will be the medical centre so that my wife can beg them for the jab before we set-off. Barring any difficulties we should be able to join you.

Just got in from work, checked the personalizer and we've got a cabin number! Booked a B6 and got a B3 - am happy! Will now go and celebrate with a large gin and tonic. Not long now, looking forward to seeing you all on board. Sue.

Nice one!!! Do you also have onboard credit? Do you know if there are any restrictions as to whether you can spend it in the casino or towards gratuities? Can't wait until the 18th Nov, counting down the days, hours, etc.....

Due to a change in our date of travel to England, we are now flying on the all business MaxJet airline from JFK to Stansted on Nov 10. Will post a report on MaxJet later. Gave our two non-refundable Virgin $131 ow tickets to the bartender at my local watering hole!

Wow - sold out, huh?

Wonder if that means some of us may yet get a blessing from the upgrade fairy?

I can taste that pint already, SirDavid!

By the way - LAST CHANCE to ride along with us from London to Southampton on the morning of the 18th. Soon I will need to contact Woodford and confirm the number of passengers so they will know what sort of car to bring ... anyone interested in sharing the ride (and a bit of conversation) feel free to contact me!

I sure hope that they will let us off! I'm one of the unlucky ones who won't be joining the carribean leg of the trip and will instead be driving up to Orlando for a week of theme parks etc ...

My biggest problem is going to be getting from the Port to the Airport to pick up the hire car!

Anyone heading straight to airport I can share a taxi with?

I'm pretty sure that the rental car agencies still send a bus to the port to pick people up to take them to the rental center.

The ship should be in Ft Lauderdale until time to sail again. I'm sure they will let you off to do excursions or whatever.

Hi everyone,

This time in two weeks we will all be in the Golden Lion eventually putting faces to names, i cant wait to meet you all.

Done a trial run on the packing, it didnt work so a holdall and a suit carrier it is then, just hope BA dont mind and dont charge me too much.

Really struggled with the gym kit, will i actually need it or will i take it just incase i decide to go to the gym, i always say that and end up not going but i have made a decision to take it and i will go to the gym even though the last time i saw the inside of a gym was when i was at school (many years ago). So i need everyones encouragement to help me along, everytime you see me shout at me to get to the gym.

Gotta go to work now, speak to you all soon

Donna

I am a transatlantic novice and have some questions.

Dress Code

What is the dress code for the pre-sail beer in the pub and embarkation? We will be arriving direct from our overnight flight.

Weather

We are seasoned Caribbean cruisers living in Florida. Guess we won't need shorts. Or will we? Do we need sweaters/jackets?

Thanks for your help.

ML

Greetings look forward to having a pre sailing drink in the pub!

I plan on "Casual" dress, just like any first day/night. Not dress up in any form. I am packing a pair of shorts, in the hope that as we near Ft Lauderdale it will be warm enough to walk on deck in them.:):):):)
