Cyber Kat Posted June 2, 2006 #1 Share Posted June 2, 2006 Does anyone know of a place online where you can get marine weather forecasts in terms that a landlubber can understand? I found several, but I can't make heads or tails of them. I'm quite sure they make sense to sailors, but I'm just a passenger who doesn't know a knot from a hole in the ground. I want to know the weather predictions for my 6/5 cruise to the Eastern Caribbean. Can I expect calm seas and clear skies or will I be spending more time in the Casino and the Spa (do you think cruise lines have control of the weather ;)). Will I be able to lie on deck in the warm sun or will I be looking for a place to get out of the wind and a parka to keep me warm? Can't seem to find that info on line anywhere. Seems to me with all the cruise passengers, that might be a good site to start!
seamama1 Posted June 2, 2006 #2 Share Posted June 2, 2006 Try weather.com. Many island websites show today's weather and a forecast. As far as rough seas, you would have to rely on the marine forecast.

comfortcruises Posted June 2, 2006 #4 Share Posted June 2, 2006 Try http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/ and click on 'Tropical Weather Outlook' or 'Tropical Weather Discussion' for either Atlantic or Pacific and you will see what is developing out there. Cyber Kat Posted June 2, 2006 Author #5 Share Posted June 2, 2006 Thanks Seamama1, LHT28 & Comfortcruises - but I tried most of those sites and couldn't make heads or tails out of their forecasts. I want nice and simple - rain or shine, rough or calm, warm or cold :). Actually, I stumbled on a site as I was searching for something else - wunderground.com - Not quite as simple as I was looking for, but pretty good for someone who does not speak "marine." I know it's kind of silly. The weather forecasts don't seem to be very accurate, but I just like to know what they are thinking will be around the corner weather-wise.
