Seafood buffet on CB?

Will be on the CB and have heard wonderful things about a seafood buffet. Some say it is available on the first night as part of the"sail-away" party, but I have also read it is available in one of the buffet dining areas as an alternative to formal night. As we LOVE seafood I would really appreciate any info on this, what exactly is served, and where and when?

The first night out - beginning at around 5:30 pm - they will have the back area of the buffet - the Cafe Caribe - set up with a cold seafood buffet until around 10 p.m. or so.

 

On the second night out - which is the first formal night - they will have a seafood buffet in Cafe Caribe again - this time with hot seafood dishes. On our particular cruise in April they did not have lobster on the Cafe Caribe on the first formal night, but the crab was so amazing that we didn't miss it at all. I have heard that they sometimes do have lobster up there, but I can only give you my own personal experience.

 

Most nights there is some sort of seafood available at Cafe Caribe from 5:30 or so until after 10 p.m. One stand-out exception is the night before the 2nd formal night, when they had the "Down Island Hunter's Spread" - I don't remember everything on the buffet that night, but goat stands out in my mind. :) We ate in the dining room that night and the 2nd formal night (for the lobster).

 

Also, at Cafe Caribe late-night (after midnight I think?) they set up as a small bistro. They still have some buffet food, but you can order a grilled steak too - and it was a GOOD steak!

Who the heck can eat steak at midnight--even with eating dinner at 6pm. Bet its not crowded.. is steak the only offering at midnight? do they gripp it right there or does it sit out under heat lamps on the buffet line

Oh it is freshly grilled and you are so right about eating at midnight. I do remember the days when we would do steak and eggs for breakfast in Las Vegas about 1am or so; maybe we will try this on our next Princess cruise!!! Sure we will, I don't make it til midnight more than once on every cruise. NMnita

We did this on the Star Princess a few years ago. We had a stop in Puerto Rico from 5 pm to midnight. We had afternoon tea, then went to Old San Juan and then to the casino. Came back to the ship around 11 pm and had the steak, baked pot. and salad. It was very nice. They make a section of the buffet into a bistro area, tablecloths and candles. Afterwards, we watched sailaway from San Juan.

 

It wasn't crowded. We asked the waitstaff and they said that they get quite a few people around 2 am or so, coming from the disco. I think it's open till 4 am.

Yep, that looks like the fruit selection every evening. And most days at lunchtime too... maybe without the papaya though. I do know the watermelon was wonderful and so was the pineapple!
