Paul

who's thinking he'll send a little email "reminder" to his TA this weekend! ;)

Blackie,

Good early mornin'!

As you will be in Norfolk next Sat., would you like to meet Carol Frey, Seabourn's expert Cruise Consultant? She's aboard now and I will be happy to send her an e-mail and arrange for her to come shoreside and meet you! Carol is from Round Rock, Texas (Austin area) and is soooo nice and cute! I would refer to her as "a pistol!"

She'll be aboard your Nov. sailing.

Let me know, and I'll contact her.

Have a fun, safe weekend

Pinkie

Hey Blackbird......will you be finding time to write all about your cruise for us landlubbers to read? I would love to hear your impressions of your virginal Seabourn Cruise! I know you may be enjoying yourself too much to be bothered with CC too much....but maybe you can find time in the middle of the night? You sound as though you are a bit of a computer geek, so Im sure you wont be able to stay away from one :D

LOL Blackbird71's calling card he had made up is subtitled Computer Geek/Photog/Cruiser..... I plan to post about my cruise with a couple pictures. As with all Boy with their Toys, my 22 rollaboard will be mainly loaded with my camera and Apple Powerbook.... I also will be trying to answer a couple questions for future Barbados cruisers like the time(s) of the Lifeboat drill....

Currently the poor Pride has no CC Reviews, I plan to write one after the cruise with a link to my normal mini-cruise photo album... :)

I just got an e-mail from my TA to say our tickets are on the way! I finally feel like I can truly start anticipating the trip. How I wish we could " Just beam me up, Scotty" to Barbados. We are flying through Toronto and the line-ups at customs and security drive DH mad.

We are staying at the Hilton. I see a lot of people are staying at Peach and Quiet. Anyone staying at the Hilton?

Question #1 Does anyone know what time we have to board? I called Seabourn and the customer service rep told me anytime before 8:00PM. But that doesn't seem to be the general concensus amongst CC'ers.

Question #2 There are no official photographers on board. Is there an area of the ship that is preferred by all you experts to have pictures taken ( with our own camera) by crew members or friends or strangers?

Question #3 Is it a mad rush to book shore excursions once on board? If yes, can you book immediately upon arrival or is the shore excursion desk open at certain hours only?

Question #4 We are familiar with all of the ports of call except Grenada. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what is best beach? We have tentatively booked a morning hike to the Seven Sisters Falls followed by lunch at La Sagesse Beach for an hour or so with one of Mandoo's guides. This is based on my research and travel reading. Anyone have any other ideas?

I look forward to meeting you,

Gail

My experience has been that there is no mad rush for shore excursions--it's all very laid-back although a few excursions can accomodate limited numbers of passengers. The shore excursion desk keeps "banker's hours" so it is sometimes difficult to find them available. Usually, though, they are very busy behind the curtains doing all sorts of administrative work so a ring of the bell or knock on the door will usually find someone to help you.

Gail,

Per my docs :) Check-In time is 3:00PM.

I have not been to Grenada in some time, but there is a good beach Grand Anse Beach within walking distance from where the cruise ships docks.( if they have not moved the docks) plus there are water taxis to take you there from the pier. My only minus on Grenada is the Spice Ladies will drive you crazy.

There are no strangers on Seabourn; only friends we haven't yet met.

I am sure that almost anyone will snap a photo or 7 for you, wherever you want. I like the Pursers' Lobby for a formal picture; otherwise, the SkyBar is always a winner.

The staff is very used to taking our pictures and do so with grace and sometimes amusement. They are also used to being in the snaps with us. That's one of my favorites, having staff photos as well.

>"...the customer service rep told me anytime before 8:00PM. But that doesn't seem to be the general concensus amongst CC'ers."

The sooner I board, the sooner I can have a BBC. That's my philosophy.

Can you board early ? My docs say @ 3pm, but we would like to 'beat the crowd' if there is one. We will be at the P&Q Friday night, and would like to board around noon. Anyone with experience boarding early ?

(Just anxious to be first at the Sky Bar :D )

Wow, you guys are fast with your replies!Thank you. Although I am anxious to start the cruise we LOVE Barbados and want to spend the full day on the island so we are in no rush to board the ship. The later the better for us.I hope that last statement is not considered heretical!!!( is that a word?!!)

Now Blackbird I'm counting on you! I'll be watching about that life boat drill and all....also eager to hear about the ports and shore excursions you took. Sorry I won't be sailing with you, it would have been nice to meet you in person. Hope you have a wonderful time!

Seabourn has a lot of work to do to get ready for us and they need the time until 3 to get ready. It seems that now the practice for early passengers is to hold them in the lounge, start processing about 3 and then show them to the suites.

There are no crowds, and it's easy to get on and settled.

I've been on a couple of Seabourn B2B cruises and made it a point once to observe the transition process. In fact, the suites seem to be all "ready to go" around 12-1 PM so I'm not sure why passengers are required to wait until 3 PM to board. However, there may be administrative matters, such as clearing accounts, etc, which take awhile and which, of course, I could not observe.

I think that also may depend on how many cruisers are staying on for another week. I have been escorted to my suite and found the stewardesses still scurrying around finishing up. Also, the staff who are involved with serving us in the lounge and escroting us to our suites can be busy serving drinks and meals in the dining room. In addition, it's the only time the crew gets to catch their breaths before the next round. They have to eat and change into their welcome wear. I suppose it's an individual thing.

I think I'm finally getting the picture....our only experience has been on larger lines, and boarding before the rush was an issue. No real hurry. Spending more time at the P&Q is not a bad thing. We certainly don't want to rush the crew. I have a feeling this crew will be unlike any we've experienced in the past. With the exception of a crossing on the QE2 in a balcony suite, butler service from a real English butler, thanks to my Mom. I told her any time she needs a traveling companion, I'm more than willing to go. My brother and I accompanied her, and had a blast. Alas, she's 92 now, won't be treating us to anymore great trips. However, she still enjoys a martini ;) at cocktail hour, God bless her. We'll enjoy a little more time in Barbados, the Sky Bar can wait.

Blackie, have a great trip. Can't wait to hear all about it. Have you decided on any shore excursions? I don't think we'll participate in any as we just want a nice beach and a good book. We love to walk the beaches looking for shells. Anyone know if the shelling is good, or for that matter, if you can bring shells back to the states?

Looking forward to meeting all of you.

I just got them!! Yeeehah. Somehow now it seems real, since I have the documents in my hand. I literally jumped up and down (and the gal next to me in my office stared).

I see they have boarding between 3 and 4pm? That's fine, I can squeeze out all possible time at P&Q's pool prior to that. Question to Seabourn's regulars: does that mean you shouldn't be there later than four? I would like to spend as much time at the pool as I can, but I don't want to be "late", for the life boat drill, etc., or cause any problems. Please let me know, thank you. (Blackbird, I think you volunteered to reconnoiter this for us?)

Jane:D

who is disappointed she doesn't have Blackbird's talent at finding bouncing icons!
