MarinerCruise06 Posted June 28, 2006 #1 Share Posted June 28, 2006 My family and I are going on the Mariner of The seas and I was wondering if someone could please tell me a bit about what families could do. I was also was wondering if most families kind of split up a bit on the ship? Like adults together and Kids together? Any additional information would be greatly appreciated:)
jules815 Posted June 28, 2006 #2 Share Posted June 28, 2006 We did our first ever cruise on the Mariner 2 weeks ago. It was my husband and I, and our two girls, 12 and 16. We had a wonderful time -- it was the perfect family vacation. We spent a lot of time together, did our excursions and in port together, dinners always together, and then the girls had a great time with the activities planned in Adventure Ocean. You're going to love it!
Ocean Boy Posted June 28, 2006 #3 Share Posted June 28, 2006 The great thing about a cruise is that families can spend time together and split up for awhile. There is something for everyone. Shows and dinner are good for everyone. So are activities like miniture golf. You don't say how old your kids are but there may be times when you would like to go off to a lounge, bar, or casino and they could go off to the teen's area or, if they are younger, Adventure Ocean. There is so much to do on Mariner you will have more trouble trying to figure out what to leave out rather than how to occupy your time.

nlcentralchmps03 Posted June 28, 2006 #5 Share Posted June 28, 2006 The Mariner is a great ship! We just got off it in May and are going on the Sovereign in September with a group of friends. The Mariner spoiled us, and is making us second guess doing anything smaller.
cb at sea Posted June 29, 2006 #6 Share Posted June 29, 2006 Whether you do all activities together or split up and go your seperate ways depends on your family!!! How do you do things at home? Are your kids embarrassed by you? (I know, they are, but can they put up with it?) As long as you have fun, does it really matter?
Slam308 Posted June 29, 2006 #7 Share Posted June 29, 2006 Have to warn you...there's a HUGE problem with doing the Mariner for a first cruise....... You'll never want to try any other ship!! Mariner is the best! You'll have a great time. Split up, or hang out together, no worries. If you run into Julian, one of the bartenders, tell him Chris and Sharon said Hi. There's also a great jazz/dance band up in Ellington's almost every night. Let me know if the bass player is using his Harley Davidson bass strap. Really nice guys, we've known them for almost 5 years now. Sharon

flyerwife Posted June 29, 2006 #10 Share Posted June 29, 2006 TOTALLY agree with Slam308 that the biggest problem with going on Mariner first is that you'll never be able to go on a "lesser" ship again! Mariner was the 1st cruise for my kids (ages 15, 14 and 11) and I could never see taking them on Carnival after that! So for us, it's Freedom this August and Liberty of the Seas next year! Have a great time....the kids will LOVE Mariner! Great choice!
