Thanks for all of your help everyone! I used Priceline and was able to get the Radisson Ambassador for $145 per night. I've read mixed reviews on this hotel, but we have high hopes! I'm happy with clean accommodations, nice bed and great location - hopefully this hotel will have all three!

From the reviews I've read, this hotel has been trying to refurbish and remodel, so I'm going to stay positive about it. Does anyone have any reviews or opinions on this place?

Thanks again for your help. I'm so excited to be returning to Puerto Rico. I was there in 1998 and had a blast.

We stayed there 1 night pre-cruise a couple of weeks ago. We had 2 free rooms with my gold points. It was just OK. Nothing great...nothing horrible. The front desk people were somewhat confused...first they told us we had connecting rooms with 1 king, 2 doubles. We got to the rooms and they were across the hall from each other and the 1 king was 1 double. Went back to the desk and they switched us (no charge) to connecting handicapped jr suites which were quite large. Only problem is they gave us a key to a room that was occupied  Good thing the guy had his do not disturb sign hanging or who knows what we would have walked in on  Another trip to the desk fixed that...the guy was getting ready to check out, so they cleaned the room and we were good to go.

The hotel was walking distance to stores and restaurants and as I said, for a night or 2 it's fine. I wouldn't want to stay there more than that. Since I got it for free, can't complain :D If you have specific questions, let me know.

I've never done Priceline and I will admit it makes me a bit nervous. I need two rooms for one night pre-cruise. DH and I are traveling with three 20-somethings and we think it might be nice to be in Old San Juan. Any tips? Thanks!

I just booked the Sheraton Old San Juan for 12/19/08-12/21/08 and 12/28/08-12/30/08 at $99 per night! List price was almost $250/night everywhere else. Should be good for 2 days before and after my cruise.

What star hotel did you bid on to get in OSJ. We are going on 12/5 and 12/14. Thanks!

Thanks for your honest opinion, Green Eyed Lady. I appreciate it! As long as the hotel was clean, I'm pretty happy. I bid on a 3 star and up and got the Radisson. I think we'll be out and about so much that it really won't matter about the hotel. You're right though - if it were going to be for longer, we'd probably want a different property.

Thanks again!

Hey everybody - My bid on priceline was accepted - details:

Saturday 2/7/09

Marriott San Juan Resort and Stellaris Casino

$212.01 (total including taxes) - bid of $175

For those of you who are currently looking for a hotel in San Juan in Feb 09 this is an EXCELLENT price. This hotel is currently going for $423 (total including taxes) for their cheapest city view room.

Even if you're hesitant about using priceline to bid for a pre-cruise room its totally cool - b/c you're only going to be there one night. Also, just select 4 stars deluxe - and san juan and there are only a few options in that location at that star level (the Marriott, the Condado, the Sheraton, etc), if you click on definition of 4 stars they'll tell you what the possible selection is.

I've done the priceline for my precruise in Miami and got a great deal as well. It really works.

Good Luck!!!

My Bid was accepted! Thanks for everyone's great advice on here.. I was really nervous.

Saturday May 23, 2009

Marriott San Juan Resort and Stellaris Casino

Winning Bid $142 Total $172.99 (with taxes and fees)

My first bid was $120 (resort and San Juan area) and rejected. They came back and said to bid $22 more dollars which I did and was accepted.

The cheapest room looking directly at the Marriot was $219 so I'm happy!

I know what you mean! I'm new to Priceline and I was really afraid that I'd get a resort in a zone I didn't want...even though I'd triple-checked that there were no resorts in those zones. When I got confirmation that my bid was accepted, and at the resort that I wanted, I was so thrilled! Now I'm hooked. These boards are a great help.

I just got the Intercontinental for $169 through Hotwire for a 1 night pre-cruise stay in January 09 for 4 people. I was 99% sure that's what it was going to be and betterbidding confirmed it before I pulled the trigger.

How do you obtain help from betterbidding to determine which hotel it is? Please help as I'm going to attempt to book the Sheraton OSJ for Dec 13th/08 and want to know my odds are increased somehow.

Thanks in advance
