It's really nice, not quite as trendy as its South Beach counterparts. It's right on Isla Verde Beach, has waterfalls in the elevators, which also have no ceilings and has a great rooftop bar and pool with a great view. It also has one of the best restaurants in the Caribbean, Tangerine. I took my wife there the night we got engaged and we had a great time. Drinks and food aren't cheap though, but everything is really good!

Toonjie thanks for the info, It has very mixed reviews on Tripadvisor. Seems people either love it or hate it, not much in between. Can't wait to see it for myself.

I got the Marriott Stellaris for May 16th, one night precruise. I used all of my free bids, starting at $99 and won at $124. With taxes it is around $152. I bid resort, 4 star and 3.5 star. I am happy with this. I had bid $137 for a cruise in November and got the El San Juan Hotel and Casino. We could not go on that cruise and when I informed Priceline of how ill my late husband was, they refunded all but $25. I was really surprised and touched by their response....so I will use PL again and again.

Need some advice...I want to bid for a room at the Old San Juan Sheraton

precruise for Nov 13 and for El San Juan postcruise on Nov 21....is it

too early?? Which should I use...Priceline (I've used once before) or the

other one?? What is a reasonable bid?

I don't think it is too early to bid for November. However you can't choose what hotel to bid on so you have to be willing to accept whatever hotel they give you.

Hotwire will allow you to see the star level and the amenities. There is no bidding - you just choose to buy that hotel room at the listed price (only you don't know what hotel it is). Sites like betterbidding.com will help you narrow down what hotel it likely is (but of course there are no guarantees).

I would start my bidding at $75 and work my way up from there.

Just won the Sheraton for two nights pre-cruise. Nov 27th-29th for $90 a night on priceline ($217 taxes inc). Started bidding resort, then 4* and than 3.5* which was accepted. Would have been happy with any of the hotels in these categories so that is why I started at a resort level and worked my way down.

Also got the intercontinental for one night post-cruise on Dec 6th. Also on Priceline. Bid resort and used two of the free re-bidding zones. Bid was accepted at $90 ($112 taxes inc).

Very, very happy with both wins :D

What a great price! You will love the resort. Make sure you join their frequent guest program, Wyndham by Request and Wyndham Rewards, it's free and you'll get an upgraded room and separate check-in. We got a super room even though we got it through Skyauction, click on my AOS review link and scroll to the end for tons of pics of the resort and loads of info on what to do in the area. Congrats again! :)

Hi toonjie:) I don't remember if I ever came back here after

my Jan sailing.

I stayed at this resort (thanks again for all your help:))

and I agree it is lovely but personally, unless I am staying

for 2 or 3 days I won't be staying here again.

I ended up getting in around 4pm (flight landed on time but by

the time I got to the resort it was 4ish)

For a one night stay I will choose Old San Juan again or may

try the beach. Its just too far for overnight and then back to the ship.

The resort itself is lovely, right on the beach and stuff

but as I said, for one evening? Not for me.

Oh, I did eat in the Italian Restaurant for dinner on the property

and the food was FABULOUS:D...pricey, but really, really, good:)

Anyway, you live and learn!:)

Glad you like the resort and the restaurant! Yes, it's way too far for one day, especially getting in that late! It's a maybe if you got in on the first flight of the day and could visit El Yunque, but not getting in that late.

Just got The InterContinental for one night 5/17, for $139 plus tax totaling $163.24 on Hotwire. I see in the fine print there is a $14 per room per night fee to be collected when you check in.

It was listed on Hotwire as a 4 star with the following amenities: Resort, beachfront, restaurant, casino, pool, laundry, high speed internet, business center, tennis nearby, and spa services which was listed last . You have to click on the link below the list of amenities that first come up when you select the hotel to see spa services. Hope this helps.

The last few times I looked, the 3.5 star hotel appeared to be the Normandie based on the trip advisor stats.

We just stayed there a couple of weeks ago and loved it. We had dinner at Ruth Chris' which was fantastick.

We want a room at the Sheraton Old San Juan pre cruise, 11/13 and 11/14. I've used Priceline several times in the past with great results. I've also gone to betterbidding and I'm not sure I understand. If I do use Priceline and put in 3 1/2 stars, is it possible that I might end up with the Embassy Suites (same star rating) OR the Sheraton Old San Juan? We definitely want to be in Old San Juan so I am a little hesitant about proceeding.
