OC PAT Posted August 12, 2010 #1601 Share Posted August 12, 2010 I have been trying to get pre and post cruise resorts and not getting anywhere. I have not seen any successful bids for December. Anyone know what is going on? OC PAT
Donna - dsw Posted August 12, 2010 #1602 Share Posted August 12, 2010 I bid Resort and 4 star for 2 months - finally went to 3.5 and got the Marriott Mirmar - seems good enough for us for 1 night precruise. Good Luck!
LittleYiaYia Posted August 13, 2010 #1603 Share Posted August 13, 2010 Hello All, I'm sorry if this question has been asked a million times before. I have never used Hotwire or Priceline before and I can not find the answer in this thread. I would like to bid on Priceline on a hotel in Old San Juan. I understand about bidding "resort", but I am afraid that it will not be in Old town. Is there something I am not seeing? I would appreciate all help. This area includes Isla Verde (by the airport), Condado, Old San Juan and areas in between. There is no gaurantee that you would get OSJ. If you look at betterbidding.com, it will give you an idea on the hotels that have been 'won' for the San Juan area.
LittleYiaYia Posted August 14, 2010 #1605 Share Posted August 14, 2010 Thank you CarolRick for your prompt response. I suppose I will just go on Hotels.com and choose something that I know will be in Old San Juan. We have stayed in San Juan before and do not want to taxi back and forth to the old town everyday. librarylady19 Posted August 14, 2010 #1606 Share Posted August 14, 2010 What are the chances of getting a non smoking room in the resort hotels using Priceline?
burm Posted August 14, 2010 #1607 Share Posted August 14, 2010 What are the chances of getting a non smoking room in the resort hotels using Priceline? Phone the hotel directly as soon as you have your booking to request non smoking. We have never had a problem.
love2vacation Posted August 14, 2010 #1608 Share Posted August 14, 2010 What are the chances of getting a non smoking room in the resort hotels using Priceline? Very few hotels offer smoking rooms anymore and the corporate policy at Marriott is their porperties are smokefree with only designated areas outside the buildings. I've been bidding for a 3 1/2 star. There is a festival in OSJ that weekend. Don't know if that's the problem or what. Last year, on Friday, January 8th, we got the Sheration OSJ (3 1/2 star) for $95. This was the weekend before the festival.

seafun Posted August 19, 2010 #1624 Share Posted August 19, 2010 re: taxes added to your bid... And sometimes a resort fee. (occasionally negotiable, but usually not). Still, the bids are a HECK of a lot less than the rate rate for these hotels. :D
