Bidding on Priceline it the way to go and saved us $200! Thanks everyone for all the tips and we are looking forward to a cruise on the Adventure of the Seas!

Which zone is the Intercontinental located in? Thanks.

The "San Juan" Zone, which stretches all the way from the airport area (Isla Verde) through Old San Juan. Currently, Priceline does not have any resorts in the Old San Juan area.

If the point of your post is to bid for the Intercontinental, then you will be "rolling the dice" with Priceline. You could end-up with the Marriott, Conrad, Caribe Hilton, or maybe the Intercontinental.

We are cruising out of San Juan on April 30, 2011. Our plan is to arrive on the 27th and stay for 3 nights. We would like to stay at the Hotel El Convento does anyone have any hints to get a good bid at this hotel?

Thanks.

I do not recall ever seeing the El Convento hotel mentioned as a winning bid on Priceline. Maybe it appears on Hotwire, but I doubt it. I believe that if you want the El Convento, you will have to pay the price, which for your dates will be about $270 + tax per night = $325/night.

Can you upgrade a room? For instance, can you win a bid at the Mariott or somewhere, and pay a fixed rate of like $30 or something to get a balcony? (I don't even know if the Mariott has balcony rooms, just for instance:)).

I've always had good luck in upgrading. Once I get confirmation, I call the hotel directly and ask, for instance, if I need double beds or water view, etc. They've always put it on the reservation, say they can't guarantee it, but I ask when I get there and always have gotten it.

I've never done Priceline, and when I went to the name your own price section, it stated they couldn't guarantee a room with 2 beds. There will be 4 of us, so we need 2 beds. Anyone done this with 4 people and been able to get this kind of room? I don't want to get down there and have my kids have to sleep on the floor.

Thank for your help.

For more than 2 people per room, your safe bet is to use Hotwire.

I travel with girlfriends so we also need double beds. Priceline cannot guarantee that. I always call after my bid is accepted and ask for it at the front desk and they put it on my reservation. So far, I've always been able to get the double beds, but it is not a guarantee. If you absolutely need it, Priceline is not for you.

Got the Mariott for $155. Not as low as some of the prices people have gotten, but I had been bidding for a week for that night so it must be a popular night or something. Considering I saved $150, I'm a happy camper.

Hi all, and thanks for the assistance with Priceline questions. I successfully bid $130 and got the Intercontinental for 4/29 (one night). Not as low as some of the other bidders, but we are extremely pleased with the hotel and the price, must better price than the hotel offers!!!

We stayed there last year and loved it. If you get there early, they can store your luggage until your room is ready. The staff is very friendly and the pool complex and casino (modest) will make you feel like you are still cruising. Enjoy!

just got priceline 85 a night for 2 rooms at the

Rio Mar Beach Resort And Spa, A Wyndham Grand Resort

Hi, I stayed there 2 years ago. The grounds are lovely but just know

it is about 30 minutes from the airport and if you want to sightsee you

would have to find transportation or rent a car.
