Bon Voyage MomofMeg

Thanks!!!!! I was hoping to get Meg to add one of our formal night photos to my sign on thingie fromthis upcoming cruise-but now I have a cold sore!

Nothing helps those for me-abbrevia, perscription form the doc,tea tree oil, I have tried them all-when I have one of these it just has to run it's course-so wouldn't you know I would break out with one right before the cruise.

Meg and I are both wearing for our embarkation photo-our tee shirts from the Pacific Princess-it says on the tees-Pacific Princess - the Love Boat-final season- 1972-2002.

As you know I am NOT a fan of tee shirts with slogans-but I had to buy this one when we were on that ship-we took one of the last cruises on her. (our Bermuda cruise) Many spots on the ship looked just like it did on the TV show-especially the lido pool and we felt we coud run into Julie, Isaac, and Gopher anytime!!!!

I will wear my tee 9it is navy with white writting) with a pair of white capri jeans I have-but don't worry I will change before dinner-and I will have my dinner clothing in my carryon bag just in case we don't get our luggage bags in time!!

Hubby finially broke down and got a tux!!! He will look so nice on formal nights! Wouldn't you know I would have this cold sore????????

Enjoy your week in New York.

MOM, I think that is so cute, about the t-shirts. I can understand buying one, I probably would have too. I used to watch that show all and enjoyed it.

I think you wearing it for getting on the ship is so cute and I actually get why you are doing this, it will be a nice souvenier and something to look back on. Fashion should be about fun too. I love the idea.

Sorry about the cold sore, but I'd still enjoy seeing a pictue of you, so please think about it. I promise not to notice the cold sore.

I didn't realize Meg was going with you, so happy safe healthy travels to Meg too.

I'm sure your DH will look fantastic in his new tux.

I look foward to hearing all about your cruise when you get back.

Have fun.

Janie,

Have a great trip...can't wait to hear all about it!

As far as the cold sore goes, if you have time (I know, you're swamped!!) run to a pharmacy and buy some Lysine capsules. They are in with the supplements and vitamins. Take one capsule twice a day with a meal and your cold sore will heal faster. Ehpride and I get cold sores frequently and this really helps. After just one or two capsules, it won't be so sore and red. AND...you are noticing it much, much more than anyone else will!

Safe travels!!!:D

thanks Jules, I do take Lysine. I am the biggest health nut there ever was-everything I try-works at first and then the cold sores come every time my nose runs for a day or so.

I did read up and find nuts, especially almonds, seem to bring out this virus and you guessed it-I eat lots of nuts becaus eof the diabetes-so I am in a no-winsituation I guess.

I just went and did some last minute shopping gals-I found a great pair of teal suede slide sandals-I wear lots of teal so I will be taking that. I also picked up Meg a cami and a shrug-she may want to take them with her too-I am pretty sure she will like them anyway and any time I find a xs in something I feel she would like- I buy it.

Caviergal-I will give a report on CB and will compare it to MOS-as I said before I MAY be spending lots of time on my balcony if the crowds get to me-but at least this cruise has 4 ports instead of 3-so one less sea day.

Thanks to all and I hope all of you will be crusing soon too. I know Caviergal just has about a month until her wedding cruise. congrats Caviergal!

  • 2 weeks later...
momofmeg, have a wonderful cruise:)

caviergal-you asked me to post about the Caribbean Princess and how crowded did she feel-she did feel crowded somewhat -though not as bad as Mariner of the Seas-mostly in the show lounge on CB -which was NOT big enough-she did have more pools then MOS-including two adults only-one on deck 16-by the spa-and one on deck 14 aft-which you could get to by going to the aft elevators-getting off on deck 14 and then going down the port side hall and then passing a few staterooms until you reached the door to the aft pool.

We did personal choice dining and usually went to the Palm dinningroom. We never waited more then 5 minutes for a table. We ate in Sterling-which was good-although I felt Chops had the edge there and in the Palm-I could get these steak torenedoes which were from the same cut as the filet mignon but toward the center instead of the end of that section of beef- and I felt almost as good-not quite-but every bit as tender. So why go to Sterling's?????

I did not go to Sabatinis-too much I could not have-but my hubby and Meg did-they loved it-and they said it was better then Portofinos.

Over all- people dressed to code for dinner-which was really nice-I did see one night this couple on a casual night-the wife(girlfriend?????) had on a cute dressy sundress in a nice linen and a cute pair of heels and her man wore this pitiful pair of worn out jeans-(like levis) -I felt bad for her- as she had gone to pains to look nice-and obviously her SO would not cooperate!

I do wish Princess would build some new, smaller, ships because I do like the way Princess does things-a little "classier" then Carnival or Royal Caribbean-probally more like your description of the RCI Radience class ships.

I am sure I will cruise Princess again-but I am not sure if you would care for Princess or not.

But for those who can better afford the mass market lines- Princess is a nicer, more quality, experience. I will say this-definetely a better quality experience then Royal caribbean or Carnival.

I would rate Princess-a step below Celebrity-but several steps above the Royal Caribbean voyager class.

momofmeg, glad to hear that you enjoyed the Caribbean Princess and I find it interesting that you found it less crowded than Mariner, as the space to passenger ratios are even worse! I suppose it comes down to design.

I will be looking forward to your full review.:)

Well I hit the highlights of it-I am not sure why it was less crowded-because although there is no promenade like the MOS has-it does have a centrum area of 3 decks and that is where the shops, pursers's desk and a couple of lounges are. Plus the casino and the Princess theatre (show lounge), two of the restuarants (traditionial dining-I forget the name, the Coral dining room the other personal choice restuarant), Sabatinis and Sterlings, and the photo area were all close by on these 3 decks, decks 5,6, and 7. The Palms restuarant was on deck 6 but aft-not midship.

My guess is that ice skating rink takes up a lot of space and tonnage. Also, the Princess Theatre was small, about the size of the show lounge on the Zenith. (as I said not big enough) No inline skating track, no golf course, no minature golf course, although there was a tennis course which surprised me.

On the MOS, it seemed very few used the golf course, rock climbing wall, and ice skating rink on sea days-everyone was by the pools. That was the problem-but maybe that was just the group on my cruise-who knows?

The Horizon court-was quick and fairly painless for getting a quick bite-Windjammers wasn't-it was like a 30 to 45 minute wait on sea days.

The Coral served lunch, even on port days-and the menu was differant each day and pretty much the same quality as dinner, you know, a choices of soups, appetizers, salads, maincourse and desserts.

Hubby and I did not go to the Seafood buffet-we are not big eaters-dinner is enough for us-I did have friends say it was crowded if you went there at dinnertime. (they had lobster on the buffet-this buffet was two nights, Sat. night and Wed. night) It was open 5:30 to 11 PM. Meg did go once to it-around 10 PM one night-when she was up on the lido watching a movie. she said it was not crowded that late.

The staterooms, like Royal Caribbean, are fairly small-you don't get the nice size room you get on HAL or even the decent size of Carnival.

But the biggest thing I guess that I liked- our balcony was the same price as our atruim stateroom was on the MOS last year. I felt the MOS was overpriced for what I got.

If I don't pay alot-I do not expect alot-I do beleive it is true that "you get what you pay for". It just upsets me-when I pay alot and I don't "get what I pay for" I guess.

Another thing also, Princess over all does attract older clients. There's a few families and younger ones, but over all, I would say-at least half to 70% were over 40 in age. Maybe that is also why I liked it-far less unsupervised screaming kids.

As I said, I still feel Celebrity is better and I am sure if Princess had some new ships that held around 2000 PAX or less I would like it better-but I would still cruise Princess again.

I really don't feel it would be your "cup of tea"-but I am just guessing from your posts I have read- I feel Princess is a nice line for middle class/middle aged people like my husband and I.

Anything else you can think to ask-just ask. I am not good at giving detailed reviews. It is hard for me to think of everything I guess.
