Rare geoherb Posted October 20, 2006 #2 Share Posted October 20, 2006 I booked us a room at the Grande Hotel, which used to be the Marriott Marina, for the night before our Christmas cruise. I tried getting a room through Priceline but wasn't successful. We stayed at this hotel five years ago for a night after a cruise. It's convenient to the water taxi, a nearby strip center is within walking distance in case you need to buy things before your cruise, and the hotel had a good Sunday morning brunch (just in case your cruise leaves on a Sunday). Coolcruise02 Posted October 20, 2006 #3 Share Posted October 20, 2006 We stayed at the Ft. Lauderdale Grande last month pre cruise. They are still doing remodeling from the hurricane damage mainly in the tower rooms. We had a room overlooking the marina and it was clean, quiet and comfortable. The beds were fantastic and the price was great. No problems for us.....:)

Luvin' Cruisin' Posted October 20, 2006 #5 Share Posted October 20, 2006 Assuming you're looking for "hotels in" Fort Lauderdale, I can recommend the Embassy Suites Hotel Ft. Lauderdale-17th Street. It's only about a mile from the port, and you can see the ships arrive/depart. Enjoy!

Have stayed there a couple of times, nothing special but ok. Stay away from the Comfort Inn Airport South on Stirling Road it is terrible.

cechase Posted October 31, 2006 #11 Share Posted October 31, 2006 We have stayed several times before cruises at the Sheraton Fort Lauderdale Airport Hotel. The accommodations are very good as are the public areas, and certainly clean and well maintained. The hotel is convenient to both the airport and Port Everglades. We also stayed at the Hyatt Pier 66 after a cruise. Be sure to get a tower room [they are more expensive], as the rooms are large and have a huge triangular deck. The view is sensational, as you can see much of the inland waterway, as well as the cruise ships docked as well as going and coming. This is a very modern and very clean and well maintained hotel. We are staying there again in December for a night after we disembark from a SilverSeas cruise. This hotel is also very convenient to both the airport and port. serene56 Posted October 31, 2006 #12 Share Posted October 31, 2006 we use www.tripadvisor.com to read peoples reviews of hotels before we book. Desertbelle Posted October 31, 2006 #13 Share Posted October 31, 2006 We've always stayed at the Embassy Suites, and we will continue to use that hotel each time we cruise out of Ft. Lauderdale.
