:D :D You would think that this being cruise #10, that I wouldn't be this excited to be here...but all I can say is Whoooohoooo!!!

As I write this we are sailing away from Boston. We got to the pier at 10:15, had our sea pass by 10:30, and was boarding at 10:45. The Windjammer wasn't scheduled to open till 12, so we strolled. They actually have a place on the 5th floor to hold your carry ons so that you can roam with ease. (The rooms are closed off till 1.) The ship seems so much smaller and compact than the Explorer, but it is a BEAUTIFUL ship!! The personnel is as always wonderfully friendly. We had a very nice lunch at the Windjammer...certainly plently of great choices and we must have tasted everything!! We scoped out our seats in the dining room...we are on floor 5, and booked our reservations at Chops and Portofinos for Saturday and Sunday night. They were giving out raffles and had a drawing (won nothing but it was fun to hold a ticket anyay). I had an unofficial Meet and Mingle with my roll call at the Schooner Bar. It is a cool looking lounge and it was so nice to see everyone. We have main seating so I need to run. I will post much more about the bars and food and activities etc in greater detail tomorrow. I actually wasn't planning on posting this soon but was excited to share!!

We will be on the Jewel on 10/31 out of Boston. How was the trip down the Atlantic?? We are a little nervous about the rocking and rolling, going to wear seabands:) Did you have any seasickness??? Hope not anxious to hear. Enjoy your cruise;)

I am up a little later than I wanted to be. The waters are a little rough, which we were warned about yesterday, and it kept me sleeping.

Last night’s meal was delicious!! I had one of my favorite appetizers…the Vidalia Onion Tart. It is yummy!! I also had the melon and mango, which is drizzled with ginger syrup. Can I say yummy again?? The other appetizers were:

Smoked fish Tapenade

Shrimp Cocktail

Melon Prosciutto

Tuscan Tomato Soup

Saigon Chicken Noodle Soup

Watermelon Gazpacho

For a main course my hubby and I had the Stuffed Chicken Breast (stuffed with prosciutto and brie and served with red pimento relish. It was wonderful. Other choices were Shrimp Ravioli, Prime Rib, Vegetable Quesadilla, and Atlantic Cod (daughter loved it!)

After dinner, we hit the casino (actually I think I almost ran..I was excited to get in there!) My hubby did well at blackjack, I simply handed my money over to the slot machines. But there were, as always, people around me winning.

I then went to a trivia contest in the Safari Club (I love it in there...sooo. cool in there...my favorite quiet room to hang in). Right after was a line dance class…a country dance, a Caribbean dance, and a YMCA dance. There was a group of about 30 women, and we had fun.

Now I had many plans after that, but being that I didn’t sleep the night before, I was beat and passed out about 10:30. What a loser!!! Lol

Now I have to mention this room. I have an OS, and I had one on the Voyager and Explorer, but this is the best one yet. It is shaped differently, and I like it much better. But the best part is the balcony. It is huge!!!!! It is about 20 feet long. Massive!!! What a party we could have out there!! (Hey M and M...if you are reading this I got a picture of just one of your rooms…7110…and I will post it when I return.) I am going to post pictures when I return of everything.

My plans for today are Bingo, some more line dance classes,, and without the Compass in front of me...I forget the rest..lol. Tonight is formal night. Its 70’s disco night...which is my favorite night in the disco, so I intend on working off the food there. More later!!

The seas have not calmed down, but.....it is more swells and rolling that really isn't bothering me. I can feel it...it is hard to walk sometimes, but surprisingly, just more of an anoyance. I had more troubles with the rocking on the Explorer!!!! I am taking my half of less drowsy dramamine, and am doing fine. Much easier a time than I thought!! The weather is warming up, the sun is strong when out, but is windy. We just strolled outside after lunch and there were people (crazy ones..lol) in the pool. THere is nothing like walking a deck on the pool with the wind of the seas blowing. Soooooo cool!! Going to play some bingo, check out the art auction, hit a literary lecture and then the casino. What a beautiful ship and some incedibly friendly staff and shipmates!!! We are chilling!!! More tonight. Can't wait to show you all the pictures when I return!!!

We were on the Jewel last October, our first day at sea was exactly the same.

If you stay in the disco after the "70's" hour. The DJ only plays the same 10 songs, go to him with a list and you'll have a ball, we did that and stayed there until 4:00 a.m. I'm so jealous!

Have a great time!

What a really super thing to do. Thank you so much. My DH and I will be celebrating our 50th cruise...yes 50th...on the Jewel in April...8 days in the Carribean followed back to back with the trans-atlantic ending in Holland.

Your descriptions make we wish that we were going tomorrow. However, we have a trip to Hawaii on the Summit in December, so the Jewel will have to wait.

We will be in 1036 on the Jewel if you get a chance to comment...and will also do due diligence in the Casino...

I shall be on line daily to enjoy your postings, comments and suggestions.

Try some raw ginger at the Sushi bar if your tummy suffers from the rocking and rolling.

Gratefully....Marilyn

Wow Denice...sounds like your having a wonderful time despite the waves. Thanks so much for posting..helps take me away from the dreary Ohio weather. Rain, Rain and more Rain. I've got 13 weeks before I sail away on Voyager and eager to see the expression on my kids faces when they board. Please keep the post coming !:D

Just got off the Jewel yesterday cabin 9578. Great ship, well kept. Every staff person that I spoke with was friendly and helpful. We stayed on the ship in the Diamond/Platinum departure lounge until all the luggage tag colors were called. We had a late flight and decided to just enjoy the ship as long as possible. We were seated at table 532-late seating w/ servers Pilar and Daniel. Cabin attendent was Ben. We had some rainy-misty weather in Bar Harbor and Halifax--but we enjoyed ourselves. Husband did well in casino--so we got some extras--he ordered a leather/shearling coat in Halifax-they will alter it and send to us. I bought these beautiful earrings--a rainbow-like Topaz emerald cut 14K drop. Later in cruise husband surprised me with the matching necklace.

Mon ~~~ lol..i miss our talks too:D

DeeDee ~~~ I have no clue what my email addy is so I can't get on!!!

Its 1 hour ahead here and its almost 5. The seas are the same, but again, dealing with it because who has time to really notice. Went to the casino and won enough to keep playing for a few hours and then played Bingo. Had coffee and a snack in the Windjammer. After lunch the menu changes. Instead of sandwiches, there is tuna and egg salad just on its own. Called a dip. By the way, I think their tuna salad is delicious!! They had waffles and tacos and ribs and spring rolls and the usual hotdogs and hamburgers (never had a hotdog or burger on a cruise...seems a waste when there is so much else!!) The most incredible thing they had was this banana cobbler! Omg!! I ate too much of it and we have the main seating so I could be in trouble!! Now I personally hated the coffee on the Voyager and Explorer...but the coffee here is wonderful!! My daughter won a $500 painting at the art auction, but we haven't seen it yet. She gets to pick one of 5 choices tomorrow. Ok off to dinner and the evening ahead!!!!!
