thxcollins Posted November 20, 2006 #1 Share Posted November 20, 2006 Are the charges from your SeaPass transacted in the US if leaving from a port in the states? Just wondering if I need to give a heads-up to my CC company that there may be international charges hitting my card or if I'll be OK.

sddsddean Posted November 20, 2006 #3 Share Posted November 20, 2006 I'm in the UK, so I would imagine you are in the same boat (pardon the pun!) as me. Whenever you are asked how you want the charges made (and this includes at embarkation), say in US$ otherwise RCI will charge a nice commision to convert into your currency. I get a very competitive exchange rate with my credit card, but always try and pay off as much as I can in spare US$ cash/travellers cheques I've got left, the night before the end of the cruise at the 'Pursers Office' (or whatever they call it). This just alleviates the exchange and commision charges a bit. Simon
Maxiecat3 Posted November 20, 2006 #4 Share Posted November 20, 2006 You still might want to notify your CC company if you plan on making any purchases while in port as these will show up probably as non-US charges.
cb at sea Posted November 20, 2006 #5 Share Posted November 20, 2006 REally! Unless you travel all the time, and your credit card company is used to seeing charges out of your hometown, you should inform them that you'll be "on the road" so to speak! Don't want them to put some kind of "hold" on your card, thinking it may have been stolen!!!!
