:D Hi...just wanted to give another encouraging post to those

of you who are thinking of sailing solo (I know some of you post

here before your first cruise).

Just returned from 8 days of absolute heaven:). Had a wonderful

dinner table, fun time on my excursions and to top it off, there

were 7..yes SEVEN waiters on the ship that had ALL been my

waiters are some of my past cruises! What are the odds of that

happening?

It was soooooo good to see them all again:D and I got a photo

of all us together as well!

I will continue to sail solo and encourage others too! For me,

it is the only way to cruise!

Hi Joe, hope you have a great time too:) And those photos

came from a disposable camera too;) thanks for the compliment.

Now I have to wait till the end of the year to cruise again:eek:

Not sure how I am going to make it.

Lois, thrilled to hear you had a great time. Doesn't it feel like coming home sometimes when you're on the ship and see crew members you've come to know? I just got home from a solo cruise---21 days total---from LA to Hong Kong. Even did tours of Hong Kong solo. Had a great time and made some wonderful new friends. Next cruise is in November on Summit---Panama Canal eastbound. Then it's two segments of the world cruise starting in Mumbai, going through the Suez canal, and ending in London.

Hi there:) your cruise sounds absolutely awesome. Wish

I could go for that length of time..maybe one day in the future.

And as to your question~yes, it definitely feels like I am coming

home again~everytime I sail with X:D but this time even more so.

It was unbelievable how many crew and staff I knew.

I miss the ship and the people so much:( ....the blues

are bigtime this time.......she is sailing again today.

Wish I was on the ship.

Your cruises always sound so exotic and fun. What are your plans

for next year?

I am finally doing a 10 nighter on Galaxy for my BIG 50;)

Want to think about joining me?

When are you going on Galaxy? She's one X ship I've not been on. We had to cancel our May cruise on Mille because of mom's broken hip, and I'm having problems with the airline and our three London round trip tickets. We will need to use them within a year, but I don't see us being able to do a European cruise anytime in the near future with mom. We're really upset at missing the Med cruise as one of our lovely Mille crew members had promised to show us around his home town of Dubrovnik. He's also disappointed in the cancellation. I've two cruises planned so far for 2008. The two segments of the world cruise in April and a cruise to the Arctic Circle for the last week of June and first week in July. I'm sure something else will pop up for later in the year. Until then, November on Summit is the next one planned.

Good morning:) Galaxy is March 7-17th. And there are 4 ports

on the itinerary I have never been to so that is definitely

going to be fun for me as well. I have never been on

Galaxy either.

My birthday is 3/18 but that cruise ends too close to the end

of the month for me (for work) so this one will have to do:D

Earl, hope you have a great time!

Lois,

Thanks for reporting in after your cruise, and glad to hear you had another great solo experience.

I leave next Saturday for my 5th solo cruise, this time to Hawaii. I'm going with a Cruise Critic group, so in my mind it's not 100% solo.

For those of you wanting to stick your toe in the water of solo cruising, booking a solo cabin as part of a group may be a good, non-threatening way to start.

Hi Lois,

Just wanted to let you know that you are a great example for your fellow solo cruisers.

Just returned from Millie's transatlantic, and had the time of my life. Wonderful tablemates, great service (and my favorite asst waiter), very good food, and a balcony. What more could I possibly want. :D

Please keep encouraging people to try solo cruising. There is just nothing in the world like it!!

Hi Anne:) glad you had such a good time too!

I was on Millennium back in December. We had a great

table (from these boards!).

I must agree with you 100%......the service on all my

Celebrity crusies has been fantastic:D.

It is one of the things that keeps bringing me back!

Hi Lois,

Looking at your past cruises it appears that you've mostly cruised with Celebrity. Is that because you think the are the best for going solo >

Thanks.

Hi Vancouverite:)

I sail Celebrity because I love the product they provide me.

Sometimes there are other solo cruisers on board, sometimes not.

I will try to explain from where I sit.....I don't cruise to specifically

meet singles.

I cruise for the enjoyment. Seeing new places, meeting new

people, being pampered for the time on board.

They sell a product I enjoy immensley:D.

The crew and staff on Celebrity (in all my experiences) have

been outstanding. The service (for me) is top notch and that

is one of the main reasons I continue to sail with them.

You asked in your last question do I think they are the best

for sailing solo...they are the best for me, yes.:)

Lois -in 2 months I am going on my 5-0 trip -a 12 day Norwegian Fjords cruise! This is an itinerary I have wanted to do for a while, and this will be my second solo cruise. My birthday is during the cruise too. I am very excited!

I am treating myself well - 2 days in Copenhagen pre-cruise, doing what I want to do and loving it! Heck - I will ask for a birthday cake too, maybe even get my cabin decorated! I may be the only person who sees it, but that is OK!!

The CC roll call has a few people active on it, so I don't feel like I am going alone.

My cruise in 2008 is a 11 day European cruise (Lisbon to Amsterdam) with a freind of mine (I have traveled with her before). Since we both have traveled solo and are used to the single supplement, we are getting a suite. I may do another cruise in 2008 - I offered to take my nephew and a friend on a trip after his HS graduation, not sure if he wants to do a cruise but I think he might!

Verna, have a wonderful time:)

There is a cruise at the very end of 2008 that is REALLY REALLY

reasonable, even for a solo. It is a transatlantic for 14 nights.

I am trying to figure out if I can do it. The price is sooo good

but its actually more than 14 nights (flying to Europe). If I end

up going then my vacation time for the rest of the year is limited:eek:

Darcie....did you see my post earlier about Galaxy? March 7-17th.

:) Hi Lois R - Always a pleasure to read your posts. ;) I took my first ever solo cruise, 5 days on the Century, this past January. Had a GREAT time despite the fact that I booked only a couple of weeks out and knew absolutely nobody on the cruise. :D Met some nice couples and a few other solo women. I liked it well enough to do a much longer one this Fall....10 days on the brand new Emerald Princess. We have a super lively thread going with lots of activity daily. I think this next one will be even better than the first, because I will have about 6 months to chat here beforehand.

I will also be turning 50 in 2008 (December). I will check out your Galaxy itinerary and pricing. Who knows, maybe I'll join you! :p

Later....:)ink!

For quite a few reasons.....I believe you know Ruthann from

New Jersey? Did you sail on SUMMIT with her back in 2004?

She is a great person~and I know you are too:)

Next, you are on Emerald in Oct? I have a good friend on

that cruise. His name is Tony and we were on SUMMIT

in Oct 2005. He is a wonderful friend, actually we were on the

phone last night!

Next, I LOVE CENTURY and will be sailing her for a short cruise

in December:D

And lastly, it would be great if you signed up for the Galaxy!

We have a small but fun roll call already started:D

Oh, thanks for the compliment and back at you:)

And glad you had a wonderful solo cruise too.

Have a good rest of your day!

:) Hi Again Lois - Yes, we did cruise with Ruthann and her friend Grace (cruisegirls Too and Forever) on the Summit. That was a great cruise with a terrific CC group. In fact, our thread is still going strong more than three years after the cruise!

Did you know that Ruthann has been living in Costa Rica teaching English? Very cool. I really, really want to do a land-based trip to CR some day soon. Any interest?

Also, yes my Emerald cruise this Fall is the one you mentioned and Tony (tgmtgm) is booked as well. He seems super friendly. I'm glad to know that he's an established friend of yours. It should be a fabulous cruise with Halloween in the middle, plus we "fall back" during it as well. One extra hour of cruise time. YIPPEE SKIPPY! :D

I love the new martini bar on the Century and that aft bar with the guitar/singer guy. Never was on her before the refurb, so I have nothing to compare. Celebrity always does such a nice job.

Anyway, nice chatting with you. Drop into any of my threads any time!

Later....:)ink!

Just about to jump in on my first, "no other adults with me" cruise. I'm bringing two of my boys, but they don't want to be with me! They want to hang at AO and play. So that means solo dinners (they don't do the dining room. They want pizza in the cabin and I don't do pizza in the cabin), solo hanging out and solo everything else. My husband cannot take time off till December of this year (new hospital tower going up and he's in IT). I want to cruise before then and I have to say, I'm nervous about it.
