ParrotRob Posted May 4, 2007 #77 Share Posted May 4, 2007 does the greek ship that sank make you nervous about cruising? The most dangerous part of any cruise/flight package is the drive to the airport.
Montycruiser Posted May 4, 2007 #78 Share Posted May 4, 2007 Not worried at all about cruising. More worried about driving to work each morning. Give me a ship over a car or plane any day.
boundingmaynard Posted May 4, 2007 #79 Share Posted May 4, 2007 this will alleviate all your fears: THERE ARE MORE PLANES IN THE SEA THAN SHIPS IN THE SKY :D :D ;) ;) :p Well stated Captain!
eponym Posted May 4, 2007 #80 Share Posted May 4, 2007 What exactly do you feel nervous about? Do you feel nervous every time you step into a car or a plane? I'd much rather be involved with a cruise ship accident then a plane accident any day. That ship took like 14 hours to sink. Did you see how many boats, ships, and helicopters were able to respond to the emergency? thats because it was just offshore
A.T. Posted May 4, 2007 #81 Share Posted May 4, 2007 Based upon my impression of the Carnival Triumph crew last February, I can clearly answer No, I'm not worried about sinking, not one iota. I believe the Carnival crews are well-trained and well-rehearsed to cope with a major problem. They seemed very professional to me. I also had a close look at the lifeboats aboard and, should the need arise, they looked quite capable of keeping us afloat until we are rescued. Fear not, me hearties!!! Arrrggghhh! Guienevere_Arianette Posted May 4, 2007 #82 Share Posted May 4, 2007 does the greek ship that sank make you nervous about cruising? No. Every day... cars crash, and yet I still drive. Planes fall, and yet I still fly. People get hit by cars crossing streets, and yet I still walk outside. People get food posioning...and yet I still eat. I can't let the "what ifs" in life stop me from living...all I can do is live carefully and with full exuberance.
bobandidnas Posted May 4, 2007 #83 Share Posted May 4, 2007 Not to take a relaxed attitude on this issue like I am reading but heres our connection. We disembarked the Carnival Legend the 31st of March after spending 8 days with family and friends while our oldest son was on a school trip in Greece with his high school. They spent the last 3 days of their Greek tour on a cruise of the islands on the Sea Diamond and got off on Sunday the 31st. The boat sank later that week. Quite sobering isn't it.
