Ladies - Purse or what?

Recommended Posts

Ladies,

How do you carry your important "stuff" with you onboard? Do you take your regular everyday purse or do you purchase a smaller one just for the cruise?

And - what do you do w/ your SeaPass card (I'm guessing this is all I really need when on the ship for alcoholic drinks & such..)?

THANKS.

We always wear a lanyard with a plastic pouch thing on the end to put our sea pass card in. Never have to go digging for it, no need to even take it out of the pouch, you'd be suprised how often you reach for that thing during the day.

I don't carry a purse, I put all my important stuff in my camera case, which I tend to have with me all the time. :)

Thank you so much for your input! That's exactly what I'll go out and buy, lanyard! =) I didn't even think of that! :D

I dont like the lanyards because they get hot around my neck and once I get hot and sweaty, esp walking around the ports, it rubs around my neck and leaves rashes and red marks.

I use little wristlets usually. I have a Coach one that has a strap that I can unclip and I just clip it through my belt loop on my shorts and its nice to have because I can have my seapass card in it, money, any paper like receipts and my camera even fits in it. So, any of the wristlets will work, or even any kind of little bag or purse with a clip or strap.

I have tried several bags. I have a small (purse size) back pack, a small shoulder bag and recently bought a small messenger bag.

I loved using the messenger bag on our last cruise. It has several zippered pockets. It holds my glasses/sunglasses, lipstick, coupon books, tissue and cell phone/2-way radio and forgot to mention my camera. Some will even hold a water bottle. Mine is black leather so I can even take it into the dining room.

My camera case has a small pocket inside that I use to hold my seapass card or I use a badge reel that I have from the office. I just leave my work badge at home and replace the little pouch with my ID and Seapass card. The badge reels are really convenient and will clip on anything - belt loop, pocket, waistband, etc.

I also bring 2 small purses with me for the cruise - one dressy for dinner/shows and one that's more versatile if I feel I need to bring more things with me during the day/onshore. For the most part, I lock up everything in the safe and go back to my room if I need something.

On any vacation, I always use a waist pouch. I don't bring a wallet. I actually use the snack size ziplock bags for cash and one for driver's license and credit cards. I do bring a purse for dinner etc. I have found the everything in the pouch easier for any type of travel.

Where did you get the messenger bag? I've been looking for something just like that.

I use a Baggalinni for traveling into ports and around the ship. (my sister bought it at a travel store, and absoutely love it). At night, I have a couple of small purses that I bring, just big enough for my seapass and my camera.

I have a travelon bag that I use for excursions. It's small and light and it's an across the body style so it doesn't swing. It let's me keep my hands free to fondle all that jewelry I want to buy.

On board, I carry around my purse unless I'm at the pool. Then, I've got everything in my beach tote. Some habits die hard.

At night, I carry an evening bag.

That's what husbands' pockets are for :p . Especially when they wear cargo pants!

I actually will probably end up just handing my stuff over to my boyfriend.. easier. He always does it for me when we go out! :p

Thanks.

During the day I use the fanny pack, I'm to absent minded to carry a purse around. In the evening I use a small purse with a shoulder strap. Did I mention I'm absent minded.........:D If I can't sling it over my shoulder it will get left behind for sure!

They make very lightweight soft nylon lanyards that don't irritate or get hot at all. I'm tellin ya, I'd be lost without my lanyard! I also put my drivers license and credit card in there while in port. Back in our cabin, I just whip it off, hang it on one of the hooks, and I never have to go searching for the sea pass.

At the pool or on excursions I use a beach tote with an inside zipper compartment for my (small) wallet. I use the tote to haul lotions, towels, books, etc. too. In the evenings I use a wristlet or small evening bag.

I usually wear pockets and put this in my pocket. It has two separate pockets. One for ID/Seapass, and another one for cash and other stuff. I invested a whole $10! Depending on how slim your cell phone is, it will also fit in here. I've even fit my chapstick in here!

As I am a handbag kinda gal. I always bring a few purses that match my real cute outfits. funny thing is I hardly ever carry them. You think I would learn to start leaving them home!!! I am cruising in a few weeks and this time at my dollar store I found a pack of ten landscape pouches with a zipper and holes for a necklace and a hole for a clip, which is perfect for the retractable card holders I found there as well. so they are perfect for a man or lady because you dont have to walk around with them on your neck, you can attach it to a belt loop or pocket or purse. and the string retracts. best cruise find I found at the dollar store yet. It was a dollar tree and it was in the office supply section.

I use a couple of things. I have a passport holder that has a zipper that goes around my neck. I mostly just wear that if I'm not going to need anything bigger.

For times when we're going to be off the ship for a long period of time, I use a messenger-style shoulder bag. I like that I can tuck it right up under my arm so that I can feel it should anyone try to tamper with it.

I've never cruised before - so this cruise will be my first.

However, I love purses. Any excuse, I'm buyin a new one. ;)

I just bought the Vera Bradley Straw Tote for my beach bag. For my birthday all my friends and family bought me Vera Bradley for our trip. I have the discontinued Black Lux wristlet for dinner. I have the "Amy" bag to put inside my beach bag for smaller things (i.e. camera, etc.) Appropriately named, since I'm Amy too. hehe :) My DH got me the hipster so I can throw it across my body while we are in port.

Vera Bradley has a nice collection with wonderful colors. The price isn't that bad, and you can use it for everyday. They also have a messenger bag too.

I bring small purses--don't really need a wallet, but I need my comb, lipstick, tissues, money for the casino, etc.... I HATE the look of lanyards--I mean, when you're at a hotel, do you wear your room key around your neck???? Horrid look!

If I want to comb my hair, I'm not walking all the way back to my cabin--a small purse is very convenient and is not a hassle!

I also don't like lanyards. What I purchased for hubby and I are similar. You put it in the little plastic sleeve like you would a lanyard but then you attach it to the end of a retractable "clip" of sorts. It works great. Attach the clip to your belt, pocket, etc. Then when you need the card, you grab the clear pocket and pull. Then remove the card :D

They have them at www.ebags.com

I use a fanny pack, I know people either love them or hate them but it works for me- sometimes use a messenger bag off the ship. more room to stuff items we don't need to buy in:p I need my purse or whatever attached to my body so I don't lose and/or leave it somewhere
