Any advice for cruises out of Boston?

Recommended Posts

As I have a fear of flying  , my cruise options are limited - I live in Maine, took the Jewel of the Seas to Bermuda out of Boston last year and it was outstanding. I understand that it was a one shot deal though. I'm spoiled, having a balcony on that ship. I understand NCL does not have balconies. I'm looking for a cruise to anywhere really, for 2008, out of Boston. I checked the ports here in Maine, looks like nothing goes out of here but cruises to other Maine ports and Canada, which doesn't excite me at all - I can drive there! Looks like we have some experienced cruise folks here on this website - can anyone offer me any advice?

thanks for any input.

You may want to repost this on the "Ask a Cruise Question" or "East Coast Departures" boards.

Some answers though:

  • NCL does have ships with balconies.
  • Have you thought about treatment for "Fear of Flying"? Hypnosis works for some and there are other programs that use individual or group therapy. I know that I heard of a therapy treatment that ends with a short flight.
  • As a last resort, other ground transportation like train or bus to get you to Charleston, SC or Fla.

Welcome to Cruise Critic and the Need Help Using The Boards? Ask Here! Forum! 04.gif

Thank you for your post. However, you have posted on the forum where members find the "How to ..." type of information for using Cruise Critic's software such as avatars, signatures, countdown clocks or tickers, attaching pictures, etc. It is not the place for your type of post and the information you seek is off topic here. 05.gif

Per our Community Guidelines and to help you out, I am moving your thread to the correct forum where it will be on topic. The new location is a better location for more of your fellow Cruise Critic members to see your thread and help you with replies.

I truly hope you don't mind some friendly 05.gif suggestions to a new member, but you might want to read our Community Guidelines and FAQ. Especially the Getting Started section in FAQ. You will see how a new topic should be consistent with the specific forum you choose. It also gives a brief summary of the topics covered in some of the forum sections. In our Community Guidelines, please read the Please Browse BEFORE You Post section. In making an inquiry, be sure to word your title so the other members scrolling through the thread titles will know exactly the information you seek and will reply to you. It is best to limit each inquiry to only one topic or concerning one cruise line, port of call, etc. You will get more replies that way. Also, be sure to mention your cruise line, ship & sail date in your inquiry if it will help the members with their answers to you. Click here Cruise Critic Message Boards for the list of all the Cruise Critic forums and be sure to read all Announcement and Sticky threads at the top of the various forums for additional information too.

If you have any other questions about using the Cruise Critic software, please feel free to use the Search this Forum feature on the Need Help Using The Boards? Ask Here! Forum to see if your inquiry topic has already been asked and answered before. And it probably has... many, many times! 05.gif If not, please feel free to post your new thread inquiry there about the software and we will be happy to try to help you with a solution. Also, the Search this Forum feature is on all other Cruise Critic forums too. It will help narrow down the threads you will want to read during any of your research. If you want to search more than one forum at a time, use our Advanced Search feature.

I sincerely hope this will be satisfactory and glad to have you aboard Cruise Critic!
