I feel sorry for anyone on vacation who takes the time to count how many donuts someone is fed. I wonder if this person also counts how many drinks an adult has over the course of a meal.
Take a freaking valium Flagger

You can call them like you see them on your cruise.
Folgy,

When I saw you post some time back about this trip -- I DID wonder how it would go for you. Traveling during the peak "kid times" -- it would take a FREE cruise for me to go this route!

However, seems the gorgeous scenery and events will take the sting away. I hope you continue to be so "wowed" by these events that you truly enjoy your birthday cruise!

Now, now, Flagger -- we know that your are as "Ga Ga" one way, as we are the other! ;)

As much as I love everything about this cruise ..the ship /the food/the ambiance/the weather on and on ..it is totaly wonderful . This time of year there are too many families with crumb crunchers (not for my liking ). I will definitely book off season from now on.

I am headed over to the concierge now to get some morning goodies and talk to the many friends I have made on this cruise.(They chose to leave their dribblers at home )

Glad you are having fun! Your description of the GS makes me want one badly! We will be in JS 1570 in 47 days. :)
Originally had 1068, but had heard about Windjammer noise being a problem.
BaseballMom - We have been under the Windjammer on many cruises and were not bothered by noise. Have you heard specifically about the Serenade and Wind. noise? We will be in the stateroom opposite of the one you gave up.

Folgy,

I must say the Alaskan itinerary never appealed to me until now, thanks to your frequent updates. The ship sounds wonderful.

You must be using your laptop in your cabin. A web-cam would have been nice - you could have shown us the pods of whales and schools of dolphins, not to mention what you're having for breakfast, lunch and dinner! ;) Maybe next time :D ?

Happy 50th.

Hi Folgy! Sounds great. Today should be Hubbard, tomorrow Skagway. For the person who asked, we found that the dinner the night we were in Skagway was really poor on choices. Food was good, but kind of uninspired. I would recomend Wendsday. There were only about half the ppl in the dinning room, many still ashore on tours and shopping.

Folgy, Orca's love chocolate. Do you prefer to bottom fish or use a bobber? I suggest the wonderful orange ones they supply for this purpose in your room. I personally love to watch the bobber go under. Gets my blood going! :D

As I am typing there is a school of Dolphins playing beside the ship just below our balcony.

I just got back from breakfast in the dining room and had salmon on bagel with cream cheese .

My table for breakfast were very nice . They are all excited about Hubbard Glacier. We can see the mountains all covered in snow right now . The air temp is 76f and calm as glass sea.

We are going to go suite jumping in Hubbard . Our new friends are inviting us over to their port side suite and then they are comming to our starboard suite so we can all party as we watch the Glacier calve into the Ocean . My bar in the room is all stalked up and ready for the afternoons festivities :D
I just realized you were posting daily reports and had to catch up! Sounds like pretty much everything is wonderful and you're making it very tempting for me to try this ship! Enjoy it all! :)
The modem hook up in the suite has not dissapointed me once. I have been keeping in touch with friends and family and sending pictures with no problem . This ship is utterly awesome.

Maritza in the Concierge asked me to say Hi to all past Concierge pax . She remembers everyone that mentioned that you new her. She said she is very flattered.

The highest mountains in Alaska are now in our view.

The temp is 65 f awwwwwwwwwwwwwww (I love it )

Glassy seas and no wind.

Dear Folgy,
Let me say again how wonderful it is that you are sharing your trip with all of us. With every post it convinces me more and more that I made the right decision to go on Serenade next June (and eases the pain of parting with the deposit today!). I hope that the first week of June brings forth as many dolphins, whales, and other wonders as you have seen.

While I may have a little more tolerance (but not much) for crazed kids, I do agree completely with you that more often than not the parents need the talking to. As I mentioned, my traveling companion will be my 15-year-old son, and he's a great kid. Lucky for me, since he's such a jock, he's pooped out by 11 or so -- at least he won't be running wild around the ship! I can't wait to hear about your helicopter/dogsledding excursion, since that's definitely on our "must do" list.

Hi Sea Island Lady -- yes, there were a few posts saying to stay away from cabins directly under Windjammer. When I looked at the deck diagram it looked like our cabins (yours and mine, both) were under the outside eating area. Since it's not under the main building, my guess is it will be just fine. I switched to deck nine and that particular cabin because I wanted a larger balcony a bit more in the middle. I hope you have a wonderful, wonderful time on your cruise!!!

How's the weather been daily? What about while seeing Glacier Hubbard today? I'm sailing on Sunday and trying to pack tonight!

I'm curious about the dining room food for Wednesday - let us know how it is. We've heard it's bad on Wed but excellent otherwise.

Thanks for the updates! I'll try to do the same for next week's cruise!

Thanks Laurie! I have read that passengers can hear noises from the Windjammer on other ships, but haven't read reviews about the Serenade. We take a "white sound" machine with us anyway, but I am worried about my parents. It use to be that they couldn't hear, but now they have hearing aids and can hear everything!

Folgy - Could you check out the Windjammer Veranda? On the ship's layout, there is an area listed as the "veranda" and another area as "outdoor seating". Are they the same...both outdoors or is the veranda something else? It is almost right over my stateroom. Also, do you hear any noise from the Windjammer?

Please contunue with your live review. I am printing it out so my DH can read it in bed at night.

1. The weather has been nothing but exceptional.Today is calm and 72f the sun is just burning the clouds off now. I had smoked salmon and eggs this am .

2. Yesterday we saw huge ice buildings crashing thuderously into the ocean one after the other. The surrounding area looks like Jurasic Park... I was half expecting a Dinosaur to appear...LOL.The weather at the Glacier was 65f and sunny with no wind.

3. I am not sure what the dinner menu is today for wed. I will let you know. Last night was Italian night and they sang to us and we all waved our napkins in the air while they were singing.

1.I am not sure about windjammer noise above you. I can,t see it being a problem.

2. Veranda is just a quiet place to eat and view out onto the Ocean..you definitely will not hear anything from there.

I am 50 years old today :D

Maritza wished me happy birthday today and gave me a kiss on the Cheek. :D

We are in Skagway today with two NCL ships in port as well. My excursion for Kayaking were taken away from me this morning (I am over the 250lb weight limit)so I am back on the ship. I am going to go to the Logging show and then shopping.

Maritza in the concierge convinced the Hellicopter/dogsledding excursion to still take me even though I am over the weight limit. I get at least one of my excursions . I can't even use the rock climbing wall :o

The ship is sooooooo quiet this morning since everyone is on shore. It is a little slice of heaven taking elevators and walking around the ship with so few on board.

I received cards and phone calls from friends I have made on the ship. I also got E- Cards from family on my laptop.

Champagne and Orange Juice on the Balcony this morning .. I should be in Grand shape by dinner tonight. ;)

RCCL featured Star Search contestants last night. The prize is 5,000.00 and a cruise. It boiled down to a girl and a guy. We all got to vote who wins. They both were spectacular singers

Tonight is Micheal Colyar (Comedian) The comedians have been a riot so far.

I am going to try my luck in the Casino tonight on B-day (fingures crossed) I have been getting killed in the Casino so far *sob.
