LIVE* From the Serenade of the Seas

HI Folgy!

I was on the 7/11 sailing of the Serenade.

Tell Maritza Hello from Deb and LoriBeth in Southern New Jersey!

(I was the lady with the missing bathtub stopper that took the engineers all day to fabricate a new one)

We were across the hall from the lounge in suite 1554 with wall to wall windows and a very large balcony with no obstructed views at all!

The only complaints I had about the cabin was the tv swiveled around on it's own all night long and the closet lights kept coming on as the door was not secure enough, both of those items and the missing stopper were fixed by day three of the cruise.

Have a wonderful cruise !

Deb

Dear Folgy,

Happy 50th! I celebrated my 50th in June in a JS on Monarch of the Seas (not as elegant as Serenade, but was lots of fun).

Thanks so very, very much for sharing your cruise with us as it's happening! Based on what everyone said, I just booked Serenade for next June (I'll celebrate 51 on board)! A grand suite was out of the question this time (as was a JS), but, again based on message board comments, we booked 9594 (D1). I've heard the balcony is a bit bigger than most, so I'm hoping it's nice. Originally had 1068, but had heard about Windjammer noise being a problem.

And yes, I will be traveling with a dreaded teen, but he's well behaved and I will hope the rest of the kids on board will be, too.

Keep celebrating!!

Laurie

Hi Folgy,

Happy Birthday!! Will be on the Serenade Oct 7 to Hawaii......can't wait!!

We're in cabin 8590 on the "hump". Would love to hear from someone who has actually seen the balcony as it appear to be triangular in shape (as seen in the deck plan) and a bit smaller. Our friends are in 8600 on the other side of the "hump" with the same layout.

Glad to hear the food is good. Anxious to hear about the entertainment too!

Will be following your posts.

one kid (about 10 years old) at the table this am ate nothing but chocolate donuts as he smiling parents let him have as many as he wanted. He had chocolate all over his face (good grief)

Why shouldn't he? He's on vacation!!

Happy Birthday Folgy! I will be on the Serenade a year from today doing the Alaska thing with the CC group cruise. What shore excursions are you doing for Skagway?? I am hoping to find someone that has done or will be doing the Eagle Float trip through the Eagle Preserve in Haines. I am hoping that in August there will be more wildlife. :) Have you done the rock wall yet?

Folgy, glad you are having a good time, I knew you would. :D I look forward to being on her in April, and as Susan said, less kids on PC spring cruise... I have grandchildren but my children were taught respect and I know my grandkids are going to be that way too!

Happy Birthday Folgy!! I am enjoying your review. Take good care of the Serenade...we will be on her on the 22nd with Barbara and Sally. Can't wait and you are helping me through these last days!!

And Misty, we are scheduled to do the Eagle Preserve Float trip to Haines. If I remember, I will post how it went or just do a whole review of our cruise.

Awesome....humpbacks by the ship...we never saw them surface close by...always off in the distance (way off) and could only see water blowing out of the spout. What a birthday present!! Happy Birthday!

But it is a great wall and lots of fun for the young people. They all seem to do well.

I am going Hellicopter /dogsledding in Juneau . Fishing in Skagway . Kyaking in Ketchikan.

Gentlemen were well dressed every where. 95 % suits all colours . 3% Tux (ME)
2% (bozo's are us)

I just appreciated the company that was my table . Very respectful and fun.

I gave my wife a single rose to say (I love you)

The meal and service was utterly fantastic.

I have seen 200 whales or more and dolphins ......more to come.

The kids on the ship here are not to blame for alot of their behavior. Their parents should be made to walk the gang plank

They keep them up all night so their little heads fall asleep at the dinner table or they run around the theater because they are bored. They take them in the Casino and adult venues and I think they would rather not go. Parents need a woopin' on this ship

I was wondering if you were in MY ROOM! lol!

Do you have Anne Marie as your cabin steward?
She was the bestest!

Wait till Hubbard Glacier, we saw it calve six times from our balcony!

Check out the small iceberges as you travel up towards there, lots of seals sunning themselves, we saw over 200 at one area!

My favorite part of the whole cabin was the lounge chair to the extreme left on the balcony, it became my mid afternoon nap spot! nice and snuggley with the cleanest air in the world surrounding you.. heaven at it's best!

Enjoy your Birthday and your trip!

Folgy,

When I saw you post some time back about this trip -- I DID wonder how it would go for you. Traveling during the peak "kid times" -- it would take a FREE cruise for me to go this route!

However, seems the gorgeous scenery and events will take the sting away. I hope you continue to be so "wowed" by these events that you truly enjoy your birthday cruise!

Now, now, Flagger -- we know that your are as "Ga Ga" one way, as we are the other! ;)

Annmarie Ottey is our cabin steward. She is absolutely the best. We are cruising Hubbard Glacier at 2pm today. It is hot and sunny right now and calm seas. I am hung over like a RAT!!!!!!!

Ahoy there, Folgy!
Where are you going kayaking in Ketchikan? We went with Southeast Kayaks to Orca's Cove and had a blast! The sea was like glass, saw 7 bald eagles, humpbacks spouting in the (far) distance, and salmon jumping out of the water around the kayaks. We had 6 people in 3 kayaks with one guide. It was a beautiful day, and one of the 6 days in Ketchikan that it doesn't rain! ;)
BTW, which day is your actual birthday? (Sorry, I forgot :( )
Have a BEAUTIFUL day at the glacier!!! If you're ever out on deck (especially 12), try to get a shot of the Viking Crown Lounge as the captain rotates the ship by the glacier- SURREAL!!! :)
Glad you're enjoying my ship... :D
