LIVE* From the Serenade of the Seas

The Serenade makes the two NCL ships look like row boats with a bad paint job ..LOL What a site to look at from outside.

I sat with people from England this morning .They had two teens with them. Talk about well mannered and polite. We talked for at least an hour. They are just in love with Alaska.

The love and marriage show yesterday should be called INSERT FOOT IN MOUTH SHOW ;)

Both the singers tied and got 5,000$ each and the cruise. The audience (including me) could not decide. They were both such good singers.

We partied until 2am this morning so I am in a bit of pain today hee hee!

Ah Folgy, each post just gets better and better. I'm so glad you'll be able to do the dogsledding excursion. I know you'll have a great time.

If my cruise is even half as wonderful as yours seems to be, I'll be very happy! Thanks again for taking time out of your cruise to share with us.

Happy Birthday! I am glad you are having such a wonderful time...you are helping me re-live a wonderful trip. When you go to the casino...if you play slots...there are a couple of red, white, blue machines on the back wall that paid off really well in back March. (I don't play so did not try them in June) We aren't big spenders, but my husband came home with about $150 profit from about a $30 investment. Win big for your birthday!
Folgy,
I could have chosen 1554 but didn't because someone told me that they had no privacy. So I chose 1550. How does the balcony look? Thanks so much for sharing all this week. I am really enjoying your posts.
I spent alot of time in the room and on the balcony on our 7/11 Alaskan sailing and I had no disturbances whatsoever!

1554 has a larger balcony then the other suites and it is on the hump so your view is not blocked in any direction!

I'm loving this room and will always book it or similar rooms when sailing Royal Carribbean.

I am enjoying your up to date review of the cruise. Sounds like you are having a wonderful time. Happy Birthday. We are getting ready to book the Serenade for next summer to Alaska, and the question is which side of the ship do you think we should book??? Thanks, Judy

Adding a Happy Birthday! Love your comments. NOW, how's it going in the Casino> I've read since they're not governed by any US commission, or whatever they're called, that you shouldn't expect to win. [like I do in Vegas or Biloxi. HA!] Also that the slots seem to pay out early on to draw more players. Not sure that can be adjusted even on a ship..still rgn? Almost time for our Mariner & know I'll have to give it a try, no matter what! TIA

Hi Again Folgy,
Happy Birthday.......50's not so bad after all......glad to hear you're having a good time.

Earlier I posted that we would be on the Serenade for the Oct 7 Hawaii cruise. Wondered if you might sneek a peek at cabin 8590 on the "hump"?
Would really like to hear about the balcony for that cabin as it appears smaller in the deck plans. Of course it's nothing like your GS.......still hoping for a upgrade.

Thanks and keep the informative posts coming.

Sue ,
If you are onthe HUMP you already have the best room on the floor IMO .
I took a peek for you @8590 . It looks great. Wonderful location (private ) and View is to die for :)

Happy (belated) birthday, Folgy!!! :) :) :)
Let's see, today is Thursday, so that means you're in Juneau! Hope you're continuing to have beautiful weather! I finally finished writing up my day-by-day account of the cruise and just reposted it over on the Alaska board (very long!). It gave me a good chance to relive the cruise! What have you thought about the entertainment so far? Hope you and Mrs. Folgy are having the time of your lives! :)

Beautiful day in Skagway.Yesterday :D
Today we are in Juneau. The weather is 85f (too hot for me) LOL

The air is dead still and sunny . I smell the most wonderful aroma as it is low tide right now.

I have to be down at the pier fairly soon as we are flying on the helicopter to mush camp to go dogsledding . I am bringing my rain gear ,but I hardly think I will need it.

Last night my table mates bought three bottles of champagne at the table and Maritza gave us a bottle for my suite . Maritza in Concierge also gave me logging competition excursion tickets as a birthday gift.

The comedian last night was hillarious. He new it was my birthday and he had me stand up in the theater as he roasted me in fun in front of a packed out theater. :D

I bought a skunk hat (imitation) that when you push a secret button it growls and chirps and makes all kinds of nasty noises as it's tail flips and shakes.Everyone had a good laugh all over the ship . One of the other suite owners also had one and we went to the Casino with them on (drove everyone nuts lol).

The staff at dinner brought me a cake and sang to me with three other tables full of guests as they all bought the cake for me. I was bought drinks all night by friends I had made (including the comedian) all night long. I am going to a good boy and drink tea and water today as I am hurting pretty good hee hee.

I have met so many wonderful pax from all over the world and staff. It just seems to sureal that we are all having so much fun together. :D

I took the train in Skagway to the top and back and a horse and buggy tour in town.I walked everywhere till my feet hurt. I have eaten so much that the walk did me some good ( well helped a little ;) )

Right now in Juneau the Celebrity Infinity is right across from us and the town is so pretty.

The Casino really likes my money ...it just takes it NO problem LOL :p

I had lunch in the Windjammer yesterday when we got back around 3:15 and there are so many choices it makes you dizzy. WOW! what a spread.

Happy belated birthday Folgy. Just curious about the train ride in Skagway. We are sailing on the 5th and we have been debating back and forth on this one. Is it worth the price and would you take it again? Thanks Sue

(Can't wait to read all about it when you are back!!!)
