sfilbert Posted May 7, 2007 #1 Share Posted May 7, 2007 HELP!! I have never sailed on a Princess Ship. We have only sailed Celebrity. I love the itenerary of St Lucia and Aruba. Both these ships have these ports. Sea Princess is older and I don't care for the cut-out balcony. I love to go out on my balcony after a day at port. Sea Princess balconies look like the bottom portion you can't see out of. Thou Sea Princess has excellent reviews. Crown Princess is new and modern and balconies seem to be open but on the 14 night cruise they seem to go to several ports twice. Please... anyone that has sailed on both ships.... I really could use your advise....Also, please advise on a 14 night cruise and ships would you go for an aft balcony cabin or a mini-suite on the port side??? I would love to hear from anyone! willysgrandma Posted May 7, 2007 #2 Share Posted May 7, 2007 14 night cruise on the Crown? Are you talking about back to back cruises? I would do the Crown and if you want a large balcony, get a balcony on the Caribe deck. The ship is beautiful, big and new. There is plenty going on sea days and the excursions are great. sfilbert Posted May 7, 2007 Author #3 Share Posted May 7, 2007 Some travel lines have it as a 14 day cruise and some as 7 day. I have a balcony on the aft right now, but just wondering if 14 days with my DH maybe this could be a little much!! I take it that the Caribe decks are the decks to be on. willysgrandma Posted May 7, 2007 #4 Share Posted May 7, 2007 If I were doing 14 days on the ship, I'd go for the Caribe balconies - theyhave lounge chaairs plus the small table and 2 uprigh chairs that the rest of the balconies have. I think by the second week, I'd enjoy sitting on a lounge chair in the sun on the privacy of my balcony for a few hours.

Polar Bear Posted May 7, 2007 #6 Share Posted May 7, 2007 We have sailed on both ships.....just back from sailing on the Crown, if you chose her go for a cabin on Caribe deck they are half covered and hve two lounge type chairs(they lay back flat), two chairs and table and an end table. It is very relaxing out there. The Sea balconies are cut away...but are nice if you want alot of privacy.;) I like the small size of the Sea and DH loves the large size of the Crown. Both are good ships...hope you do cruise on Princess, one day we plan on sailing on Celebrity. We love Araub..been there 5 times, this was our first visit to St. Lucia...love the island, very beautiful. Maybe some day you can let me know which Celebrity ship we should sail on. sfilbert Posted May 7, 2007 Author #7 Share Posted May 7, 2007 Now I'm really confused. I have already booked airlines tickets for the Sea Princess cruise, but it seems that this ship may not be as modern as the Crown Princess. I love to stroll through the shops on the ship. I need more information from you cruisers............................ Sea Princess is more port intense while Crown goes to several islands twice. I love to gamble and have fun on the ship... come on.... make this easy on me ......... PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!

PatsFanJen Posted May 8, 2007 #9 Share Posted May 8, 2007 I have only been on the Crown... but I loved it!! Big, modern ship... there is a decent-sized casino and several shops on board.
Toto2Kansas Posted May 8, 2007 #10 Share Posted May 8, 2007 We haven't sailed on the Crown, but have sailed on the Caribbean Princess and the Sea Princess, both twice. This is a very tough question as for us, it would definitely depend on the itineary. We enjoyed both ships, and although the Sea Princess is smaller, we actually liked it better. Not as many people, easier to board and disembark in ports, tendering doesn't take as long, etc. One question you also need to ask yourself is if you enjoy the casino. The Sea Princess has a half casino compared to other Sun Class ships. Very tiny, but enjoyable for us. For us to make a decision like this, I would have to take a long look at those itinearys and decide which ship does the ports I would be more interested in. Blackrobe Posted May 8, 2007 #11 Share Posted May 8, 2007 We have not sailed on on the new Crown or the Caribbean. We have sailed on the Sea Princess four times. It was our favorite ship before it was shipped to P&O and then brought back to Princess. The ship is primarily being marketed to the British. This means there are notable differences. As Toto2Kansas has written, the casino is a joke. It is less than half the size of its original design. If you enjoy the casino atmosphere on a ship you will not enjoy this casino. I know because I do and I didn't! It is much more difficult to describe the other differences. We have sailed on 13 Princess cruises so we really like the product. However, I was not satisfied with the product on our last Sea Princess cruise and I will not sail on her again until the Princess does away with her split personality (an American product catering to the British) As a final comment, do not rate the Princess experience based upon your cruise on the Sea Princess. It is a subtlely different product than other Princess offerings.
Colo Cruiser Posted May 8, 2007 #12 Share Posted May 8, 2007 My choice would be the Crown. ;)
Rare Host CJSKIDS Posted May 8, 2007 #13 Share Posted May 8, 2007 One reason that the Crown visits some of the same ports as it's not really a 14 day cruise (though that's how Princess is selling it), it's essentially a b2b. We've sailed the Crown twice out of San Juan and I've booked her again for next spring break. The ship is incredible and we loved our 3/31 sailing and can't wait to go back. cruizinwoman's man Posted May 8, 2007 #14 Share Posted May 8, 2007 We just returned from our first cruise with Princess on the Crown. I can not compare to the Sea Princess but I can say the Crown is a beautiful ship. We have already booked her for next year on the alternate itinerary. I would highly reccomend the Caribe deck for the balcony size. 9' x 9' is alot of balcony and it is half covered so it provides both shade and sun depending on what you like.
