SusieV Posted August 10, 2004 #1 Share Posted August 10, 2004 Aren't these ships both in the same class? Why would two 11 night itineraries to similar destinations (Panama Canal & Caribbean) be over $1300 US apart in total price for 2 people? After changing our wedding date, we had to find a new honeymoon! We had planned to take the March 10, 2005 Panama Canal cruise on Galaxy in a concierge class room, but it's $3800 for 2 people. When I checked the March 14, 2005 sailing of Horizon to the Caribbean, it's only $2500. Why would this be? The Galaxy leaves on a Saturday and Horizon on a Monday, but it can't make that much of a difference, surely?
Tatka Posted August 10, 2004 #2 Share Posted August 10, 2004 Horizon is smaller ship (47,000 T) vs Galaxy( 77,000 T) Galaxy is 6 years younger , has 2 story restaurant, inside pool e.t.c. I've never been on either of them though(only on Galaxy's sister ship Century).
StephenJohnson Posted August 10, 2004 #3 Share Posted August 10, 2004 The main difference in price is becasue there are NO balconies on Horizon or Zenith. I haven't been on the Horizon, but her twin the Zenith is a great ship!
dkjretired Posted August 10, 2004 #4 Share Posted August 10, 2004 Probably has more to do with the old law of supply and demand than anything but also there are additional charges for the ship to actually sail the Panama canal. On those two cruises, the Galaxy actually enters the canal the Horizon does not cruise the canal. Don
