fishmaniac Posted May 19, 2007 #1 Share Posted May 19, 2007 Since this Sept will be my first cruise, my answer is zero! But just curious how many cruises others have been on. If you're proud of the number, then let everyone know by posting. If not, then just answer the poll. ;)

Rare nellydean Posted May 19, 2007 #3 Share Posted May 19, 2007 Hi fishmaniac, In answer to your question, this will be only our third cruise when we cruise with Liberty end of July, so only two under our belts so far. The first was a cheap Med cruise with a UK package specialist, on the renovated Sunbird in 1999, and the second was 5 years later on the new Queen Mary 2 across the Atlantic from Southampton to NY. Both were very different and both enjoyable, but I preferred the Mediterranean because each day we woke up in a fabulous new destination. First morning was Naples, approaching the bay with Vesuvius in the background was amazing! We also visited Messina in Sicily, Malta, Tunisia and Menorca. We were a bit scared about the dress code, but everyone was so friendly and we had a great time. Queen Mary 2 was the most beautiful ship- and the longest - I have been on and really lived up to its reputation, but we found the 6-day crossing a bit tedious. The Atlantic Ocean is awe-inspiring and very clean, but it was the same day after day, and even though it was mid summer it was often too cool and blustery to sit out on deck or swim. However, one highlight was the ship passing over the exact spot where the Titanic went down, when we threw flowers into the wake (pinched from the dining rooms!). Arriving into New York earlier than expected, and on a drizzly day, meant it was very dark and gloomy and not what we had imagined, so that was another disappointment, plus, we didn't think the entertainment on the QM2 came anywhere near that of the Sunbird. However, I would sail on her again if we could find a suitable Med cruise, as she is a lovely ship. By comparison, the Liberty looks rather squat and far less stylish, but I am soooo excited about sailing her this summer, after a week in Miami and the Keys. I suppose you could call her a compromise cruise, as although we won't be enjoying the culture of European destinations, we will get to disembark a few times at different Carbbean stops, plus, we hope the weather will be kinder than the Atlantic (excluding tropical downpours and hurricanes!). I think the first cruise you take is very much a learning curve, the second you know the ropes more and after that it's plainer sailing, although with three very different types of cruise it's almost like we are starting again - hence the reason I am on the Liberty websites every single day! From what I have seen and read about her, she seems a more relaxed type of ship, which is very important when cruising - nothing worse than feeling awkward when mixing with other passengers, so for that reason I expect Liberty to be brilliant. Have fun :)
Bonnie J. Posted May 19, 2007 #4 Share Posted May 19, 2007 WE started cruising 20 years ago and just can't stop! Last year we did 5, a record for us. So far this year we've done two, 10 days Princess in Nov. ($499!)and 7 days Costa in January($299). Now we'll wait til fall when the prices go down and there aren't as many kids. So............... we've been on 50+ but have finally lost count. My husband finds these great prices and we can't pass them up. We're both semi-retired and can do very last minute cruises - cruising within the week- love not having to wait for a cruise !

paul929207 Posted May 19, 2007 #7 Share Posted May 19, 2007 We have 11 with one booked for this year and three next year. We cruise mostly with Princess (8 times plus the 4 future ones) because we like their itineraries. Europe, Asia, South America, etc. We have also been on a b2b river cruise across Europe and cruises on the Nile and Amazon Rivers as part of tours with Grand Circle. fishmaniac Posted May 19, 2007 Author #12 Share Posted May 19, 2007 Yikes..! I think I may have choosen an incorrect range of numbers!! Wow, so many with more than 20 cruises, let alone 10! lol I can't believe I'm only going on my first! In the fish keeping world there's an expression called MTS. Multiple tank syndrome. Once you get a fish tank running sucessfully, you just have to have another. I wonder if you all have MCS..? ;) Perhaps I will too? :) Again, sorry for the low number options on the poll. Grandpaul Posted May 19, 2007 #19 Share Posted May 19, 2007 Just went on our 36th with two more booked. I was on a cruise about 10 years ago and we met an elderly couple at dinner. We were on our way to St. Thomas and I asked them if they had ever been there. They said they had and I asked how many times. The husband stopped for a second and said "I lost count". I turned to my wife and I said "I want to be like him". We're getting there.

Happy ks Posted May 20, 2007 #24 Share Posted May 20, 2007 13 so far, although a few of them have been 3/4 days and one (just this week) hardly counts, a 2 dayer (fantastic pre-inaugural, Liberty of the Seas :) ). I think they all count! We have one more short one later this year and are saving like mad for a Italy/Croatia cruise in 2008. Although we have cruised RCI more than any other line, we're not particularly brand loyal and desire to cruise many other lines in the future! RCI does have quite an edge with these new larger ships! franu Posted May 20, 2007 #25 Share Posted May 20, 2007 I find it difficult to answer the question of how many cruises as most of mine have been for a month at a time. I had 2 one week cruises and 1 two week cruise as well as three month long cruises with a fourth one booked for Oct. I am seriously looking at a 41 day cruise for 2008.
