Oh, and if ya think there are "cheerleaders" here you haven't read some of the other cruise lines boards on CC... they make Princess board look like the JV squad!
I beg your pardon?

Glad to see the people in Australia will be getting such a great ship. I sailed her in about '93 (dont remember much as I was about 8 or 9.) What I do know is she was beautiful(from the pics we took), and im sure she still is...

Although it is wierd to see that different paint on her.

I agree that this is going to be a great ship for the Aussies.. and you were on board when you were 8 or 9>>>??? I shoulda known it was You i.e. the the kid in the pool that kept splashing us old folks. ;) .. I remember you!!!!;) So was/is Regal still one of your favs or do you like the megaship resorts better?

Profile of Regal/Crown was so distinctive, it was just the layout that was screwy with the casino up there.

The whole ship is distinctive...I agree that was a bad place for the casino. But inside Promenade deck is wonderful with Adagio and Bengal Bar - the high ceilings that continued back to the dining room. Loved the dining room with the cut and painted glass partitions and murals on the back walls. I was lucky on my last sail on her to be able to have a table next to the aft windows - thanks to friends who stayed in suite...:)

Thanks Caroline for supporting the thread and doing the great work you do on CC, keeping us in line, yes I transgressed once but learnt my lesson.

The agitator in this issue has GONE.

Anyway back to the thread for fear of highjack.!! Yes the RP to become the PD is getting some great interest in Sydney where we arrive on 2 October. The refit, moving casino, adding extra berths to make up the pax max ( gee that rhymes) from 1590 to 2050 and a few other things will be done in Brisbane, Queensland, about 600 miles north of Sydney. PD once christened will operate from wharf 8, Darling Harbour, around the corner from the Sydney Harbour Bridge. That is where Pacific Princess cruised from and the P&O ship 'Pacific Sun' berths.

P&O are keeping the ship all white, which is nice and most of crew will remain which is nice. Sure is going to be one BIG party for the last RP cruise San Pedro on 31 August to Sydney on 2 October with 11 stops enroute through the Pacific. A lot of former RP cruisers on board I reckon. Sad too for all you former RP cruisers seeing her go, maybe to greener pastures, who know, but one thing for sure she will have plenty of party people and kids on her as PD operating out of Sydney.

Cheers to you all from downunder. CC rules and Caroline is a legend in her own cruise time.

That sounds like a heavenly cruise!! 28 days in the South Pacific----how wonderful! I visited your lovely country back in 87 for the America's Cup races and loved it. We spent 4 days in Sydney before going to the races in Perth. 4 days were not enough and I would love to go back and spend a week, or so there. I remember flying on Air New Zealand and having a layover in Honolulu. And I remember it being a very long and boring flight!!

Oh, I can only dream about sailing the South Pacific and seeing Australia, New Zealand, and all those other marvelous places. I still think a cruise from Hawaii or Bora Bora would be PERFECT for me!

I thought my hint was when they moved the Carnival Jubilee down under and made it the Pacific Something. Now here's another reason to make the trek. :)

If I don't plan it, I'll never do it!

On Crown especially there were some great times in the identical bar area - Kiplings and ___???? and great British entertainers on sevearl cruises but one of my fav remains Sammy Goldstein who cruised on Princess in the piano bar in early 90s.. .I still for the life of me cannot understand why Princess has made these new "atrium bars" the piano bar...

Sammy was also on my last Regal cruise - I got the full treatment!
