Ok, I have stopped crying - question - we booked our air through Celebrity and got the insurance Celebrity offers. - we get our air back right????? What do you think the chances are that Millie is fixed by August 5th?

We had a B2B Infinity cruise to Hawaii cancelled due to pod problems several years ago. Some people were already in transit when we found out by reading the CC boards. Fortunately we were on the phone early next morning and had two free cruises booked within the hour. Our money was refunded promptly and the free 21 days at sea on Summit was the beginning of our dedication to Celebrity.

The question is why do we have to find out about problems through Cruise Critic. 90% of the people don't even know there is a problem yet.

Celebrity should look at these boards to learn how to serve us better. Our Hosts have shown how to get the message out. Why can't X?

I am one of the ones canceled...has anyone been through this before...how long do you think it will take to get the refund?

When our Millie cruise was cancelled 12/06 we received our credit in less than two weeks. The disappointment is heartbreaking but the free cruise helps a bit. We were lucky and booked for the same week on a different ship, but then of course, we had a few weeks notice. I know how you feel (been there) and hopefully you can find an alternative. At least you know prior to travelling all the way to Venice.....we ran into people who showed up to board Millenium and were told....no, going to drydock....they had not been told of the situation.

This was in addition to a 5 min blackout on day 2 at Sea. Dh was in the casino and our poor tablemate was in the shower. No lights or water, the pumps stopped too.

I'll keep you updated when we hear more.

Interesting post. I have a question in regards to the casino..I have always wondered what would happen in a power failure... for instance, lets say you just put 20.00 in a slot machine.. then out goes the power, would you loose the credits from the power failure? I would assume that to be the case.. how does the casino go about refunding or crediting everyones lost credits or money, etc???

Bella, 8/5 would be 1 or 2 cruises after the 7/12, correct?

Of course nothing is guranteed (as you have sadly seen) but I would

guess the ship will be sailing for the August cruise.

There is the 7/12 sailing (12 nights) cancelled

There is the 7/24 sailing (12 nights)

Then the 8/5 sailing (which I'm on!!!!!)

I just can't think it would drag on for that long.

I'd love to have you on the cruise we'll be on!

I have only been able to ge in touch with 2 of the 7 of us that were traveling together to let them know the news. Deanne thought it was a joke. NOT!!! I googled my TA at home and told her. So far we have decided to go somewhere. The TA is finding somewhere in the world to go ASAP. She will call me in the A.M. I'm kind of getting excited about this. Can you imagine not knowing where you will be next week. I know it does not stop the pain of this awful experience, but it does ease it. I will let you know where in the world I am. I'm done crying. I don't know what to do...try and book the august 5th. Cut my losses take my money and go to a resort and drink away my cares and go next summer? I feel so lost...yet so rich...

My vote is to book for August 5th. You will need to act FAST as many will be considering that. I am sure you are devastated and in shock. I know I would be. I suspect that a few weeks from now, as you are heading to board the cruise(compliments of Celebrity) on August 5th things will look brighter. Hang in there!

Elizabeth,

One of our group thought it was a joke too! You have a great ta to get in touch with her on a Sunday! We are meeting for drinks to discuss what to do. There are so many options. How many times in your life do you get to ask yourself "where in the world do you want to go this week?"

Hi, I didn't know how many cruises were after this one....to be honest

I think the 7/24 will go as planned. You know how life is...I bet

we are going to find out the prop will be fixed on 7/16-17 or something.....

I agree llbiopoet.....I believe your sailing will be on time.

2 more cancellations? I don't think it will drag on that long either.

Nope. Happened to me and the machine locked. Casino folks came by, got our names, and the machine stayed locked till they unlocked it in my presence the next day.

Most (perhaps all) such electronic devices have battery backup devices that hold all data until power is restored.

Good Point - I wonder how many people have no idea the cruise has been canceled. For the people who are on the cruise - If you go to your reservation on the Celebrity site is there any sort of notice or have you received anything from Celebrity?

I was thinking that if this cancellation announcement had happened this far in advance for our 6/18 cruise, we would have already been flying over the Atlantic right now as we were doing a 3 night pre-cruise in Venice. Notification after we arrived in Venice would have been difficult as we had done all the flight and hotel reservations ourselves. I certainly would not have been looking in Venice at My Reservations (or My Celebrity whatever the name is) on the Celebrity website for any messages.

Hi Cruise Gypsy !

Interesting question. There is actually a message area within your booking, that Celebrity could theoretically use to send you a message. However, in all of my bookings with Celebrity, I have never had a message to date. Frankly, I do not believe the feature is used by Celebrity, so why have it there to begin with ? They should make use of it.

The other problem is.... in my case, I cannot add or review most of my current bookings on My Celebrity (it usually says cannot add booking due to internal restrictions -- whatever that means), so even IF they used the messaging system.... in my case, I would never get the message !

The bottom line ? Celebrity should try their best to have everyone's email address, so they could send out emails when crucial situations arise. I know if there was a problem, I'd love to hear it from Celebrity firsthand... but we all know that due to the speed of information on the internet, we get the information here first.

I looked and it seems the august 5 is sold out...someone reconfirm that for me I am not in the right state of mind...

It sure does show sold out and it did not earlier when I posted about the 7/24 cruise because I surely checked it at that time. They may be hedging their bets until they get her in and have a good look at her. They can always reopen bookings later but why take more if they aren't sure yet. That makes me wonder if there was damage to the hub or the rest of the structure.....just wondering.
