NCL Mastercard FAQ

No, you do NOT have to book with them. I recently booked with NCL and just called the World points redemstion center at 1-866-954-4077. They will take care of this for you and send you an e-mail to verify.

The OBC will show up on your invoice.

Just got off the Jewel and the credit was there.

Book your cruise first, then call BOA.

You can use any travel agent you like or just call NCL to book.

Thanks, that's good to know. A couple hours after posting, I call world points and was told they have to "own the reservation" to give OBC for the points:confused: I'll figure it all out later. I do believe I'll get a better deal just booking with my current TA.

Great! We just book 6 inside cabin for NCL Star going to Bermuda for 7 days. We are so exciting for the trip! By the way, if I'm using the credit card to book 6 cabins (total $16,000) is that I can get 2 points for every $1 I spent on NCL? That's mean I will get $16,000 X 2 = 32,000 points?

Yep, you will get 32,000 points! Pretty sweet, huh.

For what it is worth, if you have been a big spender on your NCL card over the past year, you may want to check out capt ones venture card double miles challenge. Short version is they will give you two miles for every dollar you spent on a US travel card last year up to $50,000. After you have spent $1,000 on your new card, the double miles are in your acct and you have 90 days to redeem on a travel purchase.

I have been approved and plan to charge my next cruise balance ($1100) to the card and use my 90,000 points to pay for $900 of that charge. Free money! There is an annual fee and you can only redeem this card for travel related expenses, so it is a bit restrictive, so I may not keep the card long term, but this is an offer too sweet to pass up.

Worth a look for ya'.

I am not a big gambler, but each cruise a redeem 5000 points for $100 in slot play. I feel I get a lot of bang for my points that way as have a little fun on the slots and (so far) I have walked away from the casino further ahead than if I had taken $50 in OBC for my 5000 points.

I think that is what I am going to do :)

Question...can I redeem 10,000 for 2 slot play certificates??..

I do not think you can do two per cruise, but no harm in asking. Please come back and post if they allow it. I might consider doing that, too.

. Capitol One's offer does seem sweet, so I applied today. My next cruise is in the Baltics...IIRC, Capitol One does not charge a foreign transaction fee, unlike my usual card, so I should come out ahead on that, too.

Thanks for posting the info.

Starry, you are going to love the Baltics! If possible, go with a private tour in St. petetsburg, you will get sooo much more out of it and its cheaper too if you can share it with oters.

I always use my capt one card overseas, too. But i do use my ncl card for on board charges since you get double points.

i got my written approval lettet today and am waiting for the form with which to send in my annual report from boa. Woohoo, cant wait to get my free miles!

  • 2 weeks later...

Just got the NCL card today. My promo is 10K points...(not 15K). And apparently after what I've been reading here, we won't be getting an OBC on our cruise at the end of the month? But I won't lose them, right? I can use them on the next cruise? It's so stressful to even think about reading over three thousand posts on this thread!

The points are yours, you won't lose them. It's best to save up your points until you have 25,000 ..........then redeem for cash ($250.00) , not OBC. I requested a check on Sunday and received it today.

Can someone explain to me how the 5000 points for $100 in slot play works?

Do I have to use it all in one sitting at one machine?

I'm pretty sure I could loose it all :D, but what if I don't - do I get the remainder, or does the casino keep it?

Thanks, Dave

I have done it a few times and I will try to explain how it works. Before the cruise, you call in and ask to redeem points for the slot play. On done, you should get an email showing the redemption and your NCL bill summary should have a CAS code in the promo code area. I take that stuff with me, just in case. On the cruise, you should receive paperwork in your cabin. go to the casino host desk and sign up for a CAS player card. take your card and the paperwork from the cabin to the casino cashier desk, wher they will place the $100 slot play credit on your player card and give you a passcode.

when ready to play, insert your player card in the slot and follow the instructions, including your passcode. You can transfer all or part of your $100 to the machine...I recommend transferring just a part of it (afterall, you may not like the machine or may be interrupted). Once you transfer credits on the machine, you must play those credits on that machine right then. Say you transfer $20 to a $1 slot machine...Playing $1 at a time, you must play at least 20 times...at that point you can cash out any winnings from those twenty plays (or you can keep playing). You can then transfer more credits that machine or move on to another or wait for another day.

I hope that helps..if not ask away.

OK I know I just read it but now I can't find the post. But I spent $150 on PetCareRx (or was it a different company..) and two days later I got my BoA card in the mail. Little did I know I could have received 8x's points?? Oh well, next time.

So do you know if I can get this sweet deal somehow with my existing Cap One card or do I have to open another account?

Can anyone tell me what is considered a qualifying purchase for the NCL credit card to get the bonus points for taking out the card? Do they consider a payment on the cruise to be a qualifying purchase? Thank you. I have searched the threads and can not seem to find the answer. I know it has to be done before the second payment.

I forgot to ask how much do you have to spend on the first qualifying purchase for it to count? Is there a certain dollar amount?

I wonder too. One thing I do know, to get the extra point on various purchases you have to log into the world points mall. There's hundreds of merchants there. I just got my card last week. Also just bought Evelyn Crabtree lotions and it was 8x per dollar. Just saying...glad I checked. We want to know when our 10k points show up. Probably after we spend on the ship? I know....it's daunting work trying to go thru this thread!!

A qualifying purchase is any purchase. It cannot be a cash advance or balance transfer. Check your offer and see if it specifies a certain amount, if not just go buy a tank of gas, latte, whatever and you are good

BTW, I got my final approval for 90'407 miles aka $904.70 and charged $1,000 onmy Sept. Cruise balance and te next day they released my miles to use. So, my $1000 payment only cost me $96. Sweet!

Hubby applied and has his miles sitting there begging to be used. And since you get 2 miles per dollar, its really not a baddeal, except for the annual fee, and not being able to get cash back. But for some people, it can be a good card.

Make sure you read the fine print on some of the bonus offers...PetCareRX will not give you the bonus points if you purchase perscription medications. When i bought frontline flea medication thru them they would not give me the bonus points even though it is an over the counter and no prescription is required. I called BofA and argued but they wouldn't budge.

That's annoying. You're right. It's NOT a prescription.

I applied for the NCL Worldpoints card under the current promotion:

10,000 points after making a qualifying transaction. Just got my card and will do my transaction in the next couple of weeks.

We don't sail until May 2013, so timing isn't an issue and I will convert the 10,000 points into $100 OBC.

I'm trying to figure out if that OBC can be used to pay my "DSC"? Terms & Conditions don't seem to make sense?

Thanks!
