Every year I redeem 5000 pts for 100.00 slot play for myself and 5000 for 100. slot play for DH, never a problem.

I called about a month ago and redeemed 5000 for myself, got added to my resv. no problem.

I just called to redeem 5000 for my DH and they told me only one slot play redemption per cabin. I got off the phone and read the terms, it clearly states one per person, I called back and was still told I could only do one per cabin, I already have some OBC so I do not want to redeem for that and you can not use OBC for casino (but even if you could you would be redeeming 10000 pts for 100. not 5000)

Anyone else run into this?

Since this thread is so long, would someone mind repeating on how to get the cash back from the cc? Is there a website just for that purpose? I have a NCL card through BOA. Thanks a bunch!

Go to the boa site for rewards. Everything you need to know is there. Ihavent been there in a while, so I am assuming it's the same.

Clay, have you called the number on the rewards page?

Here is the link in case you haventbeen able to find it.

https://www.managerewardsonline.com/RMSapp/Ctl/link?eid=6CC18D87&iid=WPUPGR1

Hope that helps. Itis 30,000 points to upgrade on a five day or more cruise. Cash back on those points is $300. See if your upgrade would come in close to that amount. If so you arebetter off going cash back, charging theextra to your card andgetting doublr points, but that may not work inyour circumstance. Let us know how. It works out please.

Enjoy!

I havent called yet....the cruise that I would like to upgrade isn't until April. I was hoping to hear from others as I don't understand how/why they can make the upgrade work financially. For this cruise, the oceanview cabins are in the cheapest Oceanview is $799 per person and the cheapest Balcony is $1,099 or a total of $600 for the two of us. We are currently booked in an inside at $679 so we would have to spend another $240 to move from the inside to the OV but in this case the points are much more valuable as an upgrade than as an OBC - especially since we already have a $200 obc. However, maybe we can't be in the lowest priced OV? Also, I wonder how it works when you are booked with the TA arm of a a big box warehouse retailer - this one happens to be the one based in Washington state. Thanks for your thoughts and I will definately post when/if I work through the upgrade.

Hi, I just signed up for the NCL CC and it said sign up and get a $100 On board credit for signing up. I did that and now nothing, I got the card, but no on board credit. Please help, thanks

P.S. Their CS sucks, they didn't help me

You have to make a purchase on the card. It's the first use of the card that earns you the 10,000 bonus points. The points will show up on your billing statement when the cycle closes. Only then can you redeem the points for your $100 OBC. It's not just from signing up for the card.

Sometimes it even takes two billing cycles. And yes, their CS is lacking, but few call centers meet my expectation so just consider it a given.

Then, after the points show up, you have to call and specifically request the reward. They have no way of knowing that u want to use your points on that particular reservation.:p

We waited until we were on the Pearl this weekend to apply for the credit card, hoping for the "two for one" specialty dining bonus. We were pleasantly surprised to see that the bonus is now $50 OBC. Got off the ship this morning sad to be leaving but happy about the $50 that was applied to our balance. This is in addition to the 10,000 points.

:)Just called world points redemstion center at NCL to redeem 5000 pts for $100 in slot play. This is for a cruise in 3 days. So FYI you can have these points redeemed a few days before your cruise. This call only took 10 minutes and e-mail confirmation was sent.:)

After realizing I had posted a reply to an old thread, I think posting it here may be better.

I received an email from NCL promoting their CC again with at 15,000 point bonus rather than 10,000 points.

When I was on my last cruise, I recall them providing a bonus set of points for applying on board? Does anyone know what that bonus is? Is it better than 15K?

We won't be sailing for another 13 or so months but it would be nice to get a bonus just for applying. The Capital One cards don't seem to have such generous application bonuses. I'm not worried about my FICO score or anything of that nature. I am currently using a Chase Freedom card and since this is similar in percentage rewards, it may be a replacement too.

Thoughts?

In October, the "bonus" for applying on board was $50 OBC on the cruise you were on when applying. I would have very slightly preferred the 5,000 points (same as $50) for the future expensive cruise rather than the inexpensive cruise we were on, but the value was the same. By the time we pay for the Getaway, we will have another 5,000 points anyway :)

Edited to add: We also use the Chase Freedom card during the quarters that it offers 5% on gas, restaurants and groceries. We switch to cruise credit cards during the other quarters.

I tried to redeem 5000 points for $50 obc. I was transferred several times until Igot to the right person. She went thru all of the motions and at the end, could not complete the transaction due to a computer "error". I tried this 3 times on different days and went thru the same proceedure, with the same result.

Note: according to the web site 5000 points = $25 cash.

Got a call from our PCC today. (They apparently get a report when you log-in to NCL.com and start looking at future cruises)

I asked how early prior to sailing do I need to call Worldpoints to redeem for OBC and slotplay. He told me to simply call him, and he will handle all of it with one phone call. They will then email you a new reservation document reflecting the items you redeemed points for. This can easily be done within a couple weeks of sailing.

I will be doing this shortly after making our final payment (with the NCL card), and will report if it's not as easy as advertised.

Just off the Epic and precruise I had redeemed 10,000 points for a $100 on board credit. I had done this on other NCL cruises as recent as Feb 2012 on the Norwegian Spirit. ON the Epic we discovered that the on board credit can NOT be used for the daily service charge. I knew this applied to the onboard credits from NCL but didn't know it was also the case with the obc from the NCL card.

I did call the guest services manager about this and said how that on the Spirit we were allowed to use it on the daily service fee,,, he verified that this has changed. as a courtesy they did refund my 10,000 points back into my account and I did retain the onboard credit for the cruise.

We ended up booking an excursion we hadn't planned to to burn the credit, still had the service fees to pay post cruise we hadn't planned for. I may redeem the returned points for cash back on the statement to offset that.

I am disappointed with the NCL card that slowly allows you to build up on board credit and then puts limits on how you can use that credit.

We usually purchase a future cruise certificate but this on board credit limitation has turned us off from NCL at the moment so we didn't buy one this time round.

I did go back and read the terms of the onboard credit and it does state that it cannot be used towards service fees

Just a FYI to ya all fellow NCL cruisers out there!!

Thank you for that info. I thought the OBC from my bank was my money being brought to the party. That it would be no different that putting money on my credit card to be used as OBC. So I guess the only option is to get cash back instead of OBC for my points.

The inability to use OBC for the gratuity strikes me as silly too. Not a huge deal, as you can cash out the points and pay it any way you wish. I made final payment today, and prepaid the gratuity on the NCL card, so if they won't comp the gratuity off with OBC from booking or award, they can give me bonus points on the expense.

The Epic bartab alone will certainly surpass the OBC from the card anyway.

BTW, the PCC stated that you can wait up to 2-3 days prior to sailing to call in and order an award.

Is there a special telephone number to call to cash in worldpoints, or just use the reservation number for NCL.

thanks

Our NCL Cruise Consultant said to just call him. He would contact Worldpoints and initiate the transfer of points for OBC or slot/chip play and make sure it was on our account prior to sailing.

By the end of the next billing cycle, a few weeks prior to our cruise, we should have 20K points, enough for $100 OBC, and each of us can have $100.00 of slotplay. I'll certainly report back and let folks know if it's as easy as advertised.
