Lulachick Posted August 2, 2007 #1 Share Posted August 2, 2007 Please do not think it was the Capt that did this. Every harbor has a "Harbor Master/pilot" that takes every ship in and out and " parks" them in the berth. It is a rip off to the cruise lines but it is done. My DH was in the USCG for 8.5 yrs and knows the game that is played by the harbor masters.

pacerzfan Posted August 2, 2007 #4 Share Posted August 2, 2007 CBS Radio: Carnival cruise ship hit Manhattan dock this morning By NICOLE NEROULIAS THE JOURNAL NEWS White Plains Journal News, NY (Original publication: August 2, 2007) NEW YORK (WCBS 880) - A Carnival cruise ship struck a 59th Street walkway in Manhattan this morning, WCBS 880 reports. nothomeonacruise Posted August 2, 2007 #8 Share Posted August 2, 2007 (Actually it's the 5th post. There's another one that says Carnival Victory) In light of the horrible accident in Minn., I think this could have been a serious incident. I'm just glad that no one was hurt. The ship doesn't sound like it was damaged.
L2J Posted August 2, 2007 #9 Share Posted August 2, 2007 It could have. You don't remember when the Staten Island ferry hit the pier back in 2003?

Thirsty Cruiser Posted August 2, 2007 #21 Share Posted August 2, 2007 It doesn't take a lot of IMAGINATION to say that the DESTINY of the passengers on the current sailing is a late start to their HOLIDAY. Hopefully, Carnival will swallow their PRIDE and get into the SPIRIT of things by starting the CELEBRATION early with free drinks of the day. Soon everyone will be in ECSTASY thinking about their trip to PARADISE. Ok, I know they're going to Canada, but Paradise sounds better :D
