What to do with luggage?

Took NCL out of Charleston last winter and may do the same cruise this winter. On the return to Charleston we have time to see some of Charleston because flight doesn't leave until 7:30 P.M. What can we do with our luggage? Ship wouldn't hold it, terminal wouldn't hold it either. Too far to take it to the airport plus you can't check it as early as we would have to. Won't tell you what we did last year.;) Hoping to find a better way this time around.

Any chance you can rent a car and put the luggage in the car?
