B2B Perks

Hi, are there any perks that Celebrity provides when you book a B2B cruise? Like free laundry service or discount in price?

Unless they just implemented something new, nothing special

is offered.

I booked 2 short cruises b2b for October. The only thing I was

able to get was the same cabin for both legs;)

And actually, each leg was a different price...not discounted,

just different.

Now I have never taken 2 longer cruises b2b before but I am

guessing those work the same way and I have not heard

of receiving anything special...oh wait, you don't have to

disembark after the first cruise:D

Actually, you do have to disembark briefly to go through immigration and get back on board. At least for us we had to walk out and walk right back in. It was after all of the other passengers disembarked and before the new passengers embarked. A celebrity person escorted us the whole way so it was fairly painless.

 

We also had the same cabin on the B2B but no special discounts or anything. It was nice because the first one was with family who had never cruised before (and now are cruising more than us) and the second cruise was just us.

Not a perk but on most X ships we have sailed they have a special price for laundry/dry cleaning on the last day of the cruise. So you can get stuff done fairly cheaply to be ready for the second leg.

 

Enjoy. It is really wonderful to sit back and smile inwardly while others grouse about it being the last day of the cuirse.

Not sure how X works this but we had 2 7day B2B & bought a litre of Rum at the shop--they delivered it to us the night before---so the next week DH had rum to drink in the room...LOL We had to get off & come back on--but we chose to take a tour on our own--but no time getting back on board--it is nice if you CAN get the same room for both...sometimes if you wait too long you might not & have to change rooms--but the cabins people might help you do it. This was a Costa cruise tho.

While I have not done a Celebrity B2B (I am doing an Azamara B2B in October), I have read that Celebrity offers a special lunch in the Dining room for those who are on the next sailing. I believe this is still offered, but I am not 100% certain.

The best perk on the b2b is that when most passenger's are disembarking the ship you know that you are on for the next cruise.

We had the special lunch on turn around day on one B2B but not on the other. I guess it is not for certain.

You can talk directly to the Maitre'd on the first cruise to discuss your dining arrangements for the second cruise.

Many of our cruises are now B2B.

We have never had a problem purchasing bottles on board for the second leg.

The laundry special is not offered on all sailings.

The special dining room lunch for B2B people is offered only if there is a large number of returnees. We have found this to be a rare event.

The forced disembarkation takes place only in US ports. The escort by an X employee which is so helpful in getting past shore staff is also not a standard feature. We had to wait in the reception area for over an hour on Century B2B2Bs in January.

Having the ship to yourself for a few hours is a great feeling when you know others are suffering the pangs of cruise withdrawal on their way home.:D

We normally go shopping for wine.

There are some wonderful museums right next to the port.

The ship on which Master & Commander was filmed,

aircraft carrier, submarine.

 

The downtown is within walking distance.

We have done two B2B. Had no problem buying from the gift shop for the next cruise.

 

We did have a special lunch offered. All of our backs to backs had different itineraries so I guess we had a high number of B2B.

 

We did have special tours offered to us. They were listed in the normal shore excursion guide.

 

One of favorite things about a back to back is when everyone else is concerned about getting packed and you know you do not have to worry about that.

Our experience:

 

2004 - October: Turnaround Barcelona on Millennium:

• lunch offered and taken;
  
• no requirement to leave ship and reboard;
  
• So happy not to have to line up for a 'slow-to-appear' taxi, like those disembarking for home.

2006 - April : Turnaround Cape Liberty on Constellation:

• no lunch offered in dining room--
  • reason given: ship tours for Travel industry;
    
  • however, because of allergies, Asst. Maitre D ordered a special lunch to be served to us in the buffet dining area;

  [*]no requirement to leave ship and reboard;

  [*]had to change cabins so used up part of our time;

  [*]watched new crews arriving, then watched new pax board

2007 - September: Turnaround Dover UK on Constellation:

• stay tuned...it won't happen until Sep 15. I'll report when we get back home at the end of Sep:D

In most cases, no. In some ports, yes. For example, their are special shore excursions for B2B guests who combine the Fort Lauderdale repositioning cruise to Santiago de Chile with the next sailing around Cape Horn to Buenos Aires. We took the 'full day in Santiago' shore excursions for back-to-back guests, returning to the ship as opposed to to the airport. Since it is a 90 minute drive from Valparaiso (where the ship docks) to Santiago, that was very convenient.

That's the one we did B2B2B in January 2007 where people were taken off and left to sit in the arrival hall for one to two hours.

C2C, what a beautiful picture of Istanbul. Brought back memories. I was stationed in Turkey back in the early 70's. Could you jog my memory a bit, I know that's not the Blue Mosque, but what is it called. My dream is to someday do an Eastern Med cruise and relive some of those memories.

I believe it is the "Hagia Sophia". If you google it you'll see some interior shots of the museum. The Eastern Mediterranean is our favorite destination.
