Golden Princess

Port of Long Beach is used almost exclusively for Carnival ships (the Pride and the Paradise). All other lines, including Princess, use the World Cruise Center in San Pedro. But many people seem to stay in the Long Beach area, no matter which port, as the hotels seem to be nicer compared to San Pedro. But check out the hotel threads in this forum and maybe you can get some good recs.

As others have said the ship will leave out of San Pedro. There are hotels there but I like some of the hotels in Long Beach better and if you arrive early there are quite a few things to do in Long Beach. On our last cruise we spent a couple of days at the Hyatt in Long Beach. It was in walking distances (5 minutes) of the aquarium and about a 30 minute walk to the old Queen Mary which is actually adjacent to where the docking faciliities that Carnival Cruise Lines uses.
