PG days at sea

The Dec 1st cruise I am booked on has days at sea, unlike the 7 day cruise itinerary. Can someone tell me what activities are offered on days at sea.....especially if the weather is such that sitting outside isn't an option (raining)?

Of course if its warm....a little rain never hurt anything exceot for diluting ones beverage....maybe thats the reason for the umbrellas in the drink!:D

Oh for a Mudslide or a BBC right about now......

One last question for those that have sailed on the PG since the cabins were added in the stern and the piano bar added to the casino area.......did the refit change the overall feeling of the ship...for the good or for the worst?

86 days till I fly off to LAX, overnight and then fly off to Papeete...can't wait.

We were on an 11-day PG cruise last summer with 3 sea days. We fortunately didn't have any of those days rained out, so I think we spent most of our time (between meals!) sitting on deck, reading, listening to music, and truly relaxing. But there were plenty of activities on the sea days. Looking at our daily programs, there were always 2 or 3 lectures each sea day, cooking demonstrations, galley and bridge tours, Tahitian culture demonstrations -- from dance lessons to language to shell bracelet making -- more than we could, or wanted to, partake in.

Last summer's cruise was our second on the PG. We didn't find the renovations changed the feeling of the ship at all. The piano bar is a nice concept, but it wasn't utilized much on our cruise. The musicians were mediocre, and we preferred to be outside rather than in the small piano lounge, except a few times we were briefly waiting for a table for dinner. (We were fortunate to be on a trip that had two jazz bands aboard -- a package from an outfit called Jazzdagen Tours -- which, because of the intimate size of the PG, we were able to sit and listen to. They played in La Palette, and we'd sit outside and enjoy the music as the sun went down before dinner, and under the stars after the evening entertainment. On most cruises Jazzdagen does, we understand that the performances are private for those passengers part of the package, but they couldn't close off the lounge on the PG, so we got a wonderful treat, and a great introduction to something new.)

Don't worry -- you won't be disappointed!

We enjoyed the piano bar. The pianist on our cruise was a really nice guy--we talked to him early on in the cruise just by chance and enjoyed his music so made a point to go for pre-dinner drinks when he was playing. It was very relaxing and seemed to be popular. They had some light appetizers set out every evening.

I remember the piano player in Pa Palette....with the new piano bar off the casino is the piano in Palette still being used for entertainment? I love having evening cocktails while listening to a good piano player, the openness of Palette was wonderful...hope it is still used and not replaced by the piano bar down a few decks.....2 piano players would be too much to ask for but great.

They actually use both, and the piano player was in La Palette for afternoon tea. La Palette seemed to used a lot for private functions--so wasn't open to the general public several nights. A couple of nights, Sligo played in the piano bar downstairs, and the pianist was in La Palette.

Just got off the PG and the piano bar was in full swing just about every night of our 10 day cruise. Le Palette was also very active with some sort of entertainment during cocktail hour (Siglo or a part of Siglo usually), and either Siglo, Karaoke, disco at night.
