Barcelona HO HO

Recommended Posts

LHT28 has given you the site link. The HOHO comes right to the pier and takes you to most of the key attractions. We used it our last time there. Took it from the pier and did most of the loop but got off at the top of Las Ramblas so we could walk back to the pier through one of the worlds greatest esplanades.

We were in Barcelona in May and the HOHO bus is definitely worth it!

If you have to make choices on which line you would like to do, the websites all recommend the red line and in our opinion the blue was by far the better route.

The HOHO is available a short city bus ride from the pier at the foot of Las Ramblas.

Take it and enjoy....you won't be disappointed.

I've heard there are two different bus services but annot find the other so I presume this one is better.

The other one is the orange Barcelona Tours bus.

I think it is slightly more expensive, but it has a recorded audio commentary and just one, longer route through the entire city.

Cruisingfamily: Can you pick up the Ho-Ho at the pier as one poster has indicated? I thought you had to pick it up at the station on Las Ramblas. Did you have to wait for a long period of time between stops?

Does the cruise ship have a shuttle that will take you to Las Ramblas or do you have to take a city bus to the station?

We will be in Barcelona on a Saturday next May. Sure hope it won't be too crowded.

The Turistico Bus has the red, blue and green lines; Sagrada Familia = Red, Montjuck and Columbs Sq. = Blue, Zoo=Green. If you are in Barcelona for a few day you pick up the bus at either the corner of Plaza Catalunya near Las Ramblas = blue or the one totally to the right looking at the Plaza = Red on the corner of Passeig de Gracia and opposite the Elcortes department store.

Waiting at bus stops really depends on the amount of tourists in Barcelona. We were there May 27 & 28 and it was mobed. Waits were over a half hour to just change buses. We just roade the buses to get a good overview of Barcelona. What normally is supposed to take about 2 hours took at least 4.

It is a great inexpensive and relaxing way to see this beautiful city.

Lots of people recommend buying the 2 day pass. However, if you are there only 2 full days, you will want to walk to the Gothic area, along the bay and up or down Las Ramblas. We bought the 2 day pass but only used it on one day. It must be two consecutive days usage.

Bon Voyage

We did use the bus two days. Did the blue loop with stops the first day, then walked to the Sagrada Familia our second morning and hopped on the red loop, taking it all the way around. VERY convenient way to see the city.

"Bus Turistico" is the official one. I couldn't believe how often they came - we never waited more than five minutes!

We arrived in Barcelona two days before our cruise in June. We did the HoHo bus both days. You can buy your ticket as you board the bus. We went all the way around at first to get a nice overview and then got off when we came to points of interest for us. We'd do it again. It was great.

Our cruise ends in Barcelona, but our flight doesn't leave until 8:00 p.m. We will not be using the cruise line to transfer to the airport. If we can get on the HOHO from the pier, do you know if there's a place to store our luggage? Can we return to the pier in the early evening, get our luggage, then take a taxi to the airport?
