walking distance

Are any of the rum factories with tours within walking distance of where the ships dock? Looking at a map it appears that the Malibu Factory is but thought it'd be a good idea to ask you cruisers that have been to Barbados. That else worth seeing is within walking distance from the ship? Thanks!

We found this port to be confusing as far as walking on our own. This is a port where I would definately book a tour or get a taxi at the port. We tried to walk on our own, it was very hot, and not easy. We ended up grabbing a taxi out on the street. He was wonderful. We went to the Mount Gay Rum factory, then to a beach (maybe Paynes) then he took us back. It was a great day after a rough start!!

How many times have I recommended to y'all that you get a cab?

Walking in hot sun on these little islands is not cute.

Not with this humidity!

Why do you think we locals drive everywhere?

We live here, and we all drive air-conditioned cars.

Maybe we know something, huh?

aplmac, you are too funny. I guess the just don't read all the posts correctly. We will be on your island in about 3 weeks. Going over to Malibu for the tour and beach and...... taking a taxi both ways. May even hit the Boatyard

See you soon

This is the kind of rude behavior we encountered from the locals. Many islands have easy walks from ship to town, we are athletic people who like to walk and are not unfamiliar with the tropics having done missionary work in Haiti. People have posted on here "easy" directions for walking to town. The local cabbies near the port were pushy and rude. Next time on this island I would book a tour ahead.
