gracecarmo Posted October 31, 2007 #26 Share Posted October 31, 2007 now, is basically the fact that they are now scheduling events there....ie trivia, dance classes, golf putting, to name a few, during the day. We were on the 9-27 voyage on the Connie, and the lounge was full of people at times at sea, doing the "whale watch". As far as the refurbishing goes: They put a pocket full of money into this ill fated venture, and now must do a stage by stage depreciation. That is, so much per year can be depreciated. This is according to a person of the staff. I did notice that there were some new coverings on the chairs.
4pup Posted November 4, 2007 #27 Share Posted November 4, 2007 :) Just off the Summit. The ugly beds are gone, but the gauze is still hanging...The Hotel Mgr. said that the entire room is being redone this spring. How wonderful....
Rare Jim_Iain Posted November 4, 2007 #28 Share Posted November 4, 2007 Darn - we are sailing Summit in February. I guess it will not yet be re-done.
jaybird from SC Posted November 4, 2007 #29 Share Posted November 4, 2007 Anyone know if the Summit nightclub has been restored? Regards We are just off Summit. The Bar still has the gaudy white hanging "things" but the cabanas or whatever they were, are gone. I totally agree that the decor surely doesn't match the rest of the ship. Rare hcat Posted November 4, 2007 #30 Share Posted November 4, 2007 Once the gauze is gone we'll be back to Summit. When I saw how they had utterly defiled that space I could not believe it! Glad the beds are gone!
Drew B Posted November 5, 2007 #31 Share Posted November 5, 2007 I loved the beds. Most mornings of sea days I lay up there with my coffee and a book and enjoyed myself tremendously while still being able to look out over the ocean. Beautiful. Rare Jim_Iain Posted November 6, 2007 #34 Share Posted November 6, 2007 mattress'? You had to see it to believe it.... They had about 1/2 dozen beds with drapes around them (casba style) across the complete front of the ship. Totally destroyed the open view out to the sea - IMHO. At least they removed the beds and replaced them with chairs.
CruisingChick Posted November 6, 2007 #35 Share Posted November 6, 2007 Greetings --- Any news on what "The Bar At The End Of The World" looks like on the Infinity these days. I wonder if it is now "User Friendly." Just off Constellation yesterday and the Bar at the Edge of the Earth still looks terrible if you ask me. I wanted to get scissors and cut all that stuff down. I wish they would re-do it and change the name.
Drew B Posted November 6, 2007 #36 Share Posted November 6, 2007 Drew, did you wear your robe with the tag that says 'do not remove from cabin'?:D Nope. I was fully dressed. I did remove my shoes before climbing up on the bed.
