Fogfog Posted January 18, 2008 Author #26 Share Posted January 18, 2008 Thanks for the sites as for the lack of snow Our friends in Italy say its warmer --and snows less--in recent years... One interesting tidbit-=it there are like 80 new species of fish (tropical ones) that now reside in the Med I wonder if the ship traffic --and ballast water etc...in and out makes a difference.. I know they have to dump ballast water etc but between traffic through the Suez and also trans atl-- not a far stretch to imagine things travel with ships...just consdier the insect issues alone...yikes  When I was growing up--the scientists in the know said it was a given that we'd die of a new ice age..and that the environment was cooling. Seems like a cycle to me:rolleyes:
plane2port Posted January 19, 2008 #27 Share Posted January 19, 2008 It's been a long time since I have enjoyed a thread as much as this one. I have to admit that I hadn't even considered flying to Europe to ski. I had thought that the cost would be prohibitive. Perhaps not......... I have thought about flying into somewhere like Portillo (Chile) to ski in July. This would be the off season for travel there, and hopefully the dollar would go further than in Europe. DH and I spent 6 months travelling in SA about 25 years ago, and it was incredibly cheap, but I'm sure things have changed since then. Has anyone skiied there? Details please!!
