petesweet Posted February 13, 2008 #1 Share Posted February 13, 2008 We are going on a cruise out of Dover. We fly into London, drive immediately to Dover, and set sail. After the cruise, we disembark in Dover, drive to airport, and leave. No overnight in UK. Here's the problem: My SIL is a Filipino. My BIL wrote this: "Seems (UK) England requires a full address with zip code and also a telephone number in England for anyone who wants to get a visa from their country." sddsddean Posted February 13, 2008 #2 Share Posted February 13, 2008 I went to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office website and plugged in a Filipino resident in the USA (I'm assuming thats where she lives) and this is what comes up. http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk/servlet/UKVisasDoINeedAVisa?url=%2Fservlet%2FFront%3Fpagename%3DOpenMarket%2FXcelerate%2FShowPage%26c%3DPage%26cid%3D1006977149962&purpose=Visitor&nationality=Philippines&location=United+States She will indeed need a visa, but I will leave it up to you to read through the blurb. If you need any clarification, your best bet will probably be to contact the UK Embassy in the US (in Washington?) Simon
Globaliser Posted February 13, 2008 #3 Share Posted February 13, 2008 Here's the problem: My SIL is a Filipino. My BIL wrote this: "Seems (UK) England requires a full address with zip code and also a telephone number in England for anyone who wants to get a visa from their country."I'm sure that the visa office would be prepared to be flexible if you can demonstrate that this is the itinerary: showing confirmed bookings for both cruise and flight, for example. This is particularly so, given that Filipinos qualify for the Transit Without Visa concession, even if they have to enter the country and nightstop. This doesn't directly apply to your SIL, but it gives an indication of the flexibility that might be shown when she applies for a visa for something which is in truth a transit. petesweet Posted February 14, 2008 Author #4 Share Posted February 14, 2008 Thank you, everyone for your efforts to help and for your input. I am passing this on to her. For some reason, her travel agent is not very helpful with visa information and she is having to search on her own.
