disney with no kids?

We have three kids who are not coming with us this trip. Disney has the only cruise that fits the itinerary and date that we are looking for. I'm so torn because I think that I will be missing the kids the whole time on Disney and thinking how much they would love it should we bite the bullet and go or consider a different line and adjust our dates?

I don't actually see the ACTUAL question here... so I'm not sure if you're asking if we agree with one side vs the other OR if you're wondering if it is possible to have fun without your kids.

One side vs the other:

Only you can make decisions regarding the money you spend. If you need your kids around to have fun, then you should wait until you can cruise with them. If you want to stick with the itinerary/dates you were looking for... stick with them. This isn't a decision anyone other than you can make.

I can only give you this advice... If you dislike children and you aren't a Disney fan and you only want to cruise to cruise... you MIGHT have some issues with a Disney Cruise.

 

People cruise with DCL because they love the heritage of Disney or their children are huge Disney fans or sometimes (often) both.

 

DCL tends to have more young kids, pre-teens and parents than other cruise lines. Others tend to have more teens and older folks (I tease my neighbor that he's not "old" he's "vintage"). It's fairly unique, but as you might see if you wander into my December 2007 Wonder cruise report (there is a link to it in that second thread) my wife and I had a great time.

 

If the only thing bothering you is that your kids can't join you... you either need to fix their schedules so they can OR frame it in your mind that this is a scouting trip for the next time, when they join you!

No, stay with DCL and enjoy.

You will just relive good memories of when they were with you while making memories of your own.

 

we have gone with and without kids and grandkids. we always chat about things they did on past cruises with us but never let it get in the way of enjoying our time together.

 

some day the kids will be grown and gone and it will be just the two of you again, so get use to having fun together without them once in awhile.

 

we have found it really helps to being us closer together to have some adult only time and for us DCL offers plenty to do for the types of things we like to do.

 

we dont gamble so dont care abut casinos, or adult drinking games and dont care for dirty adult comedy so the DCL shows are much better for us. we have done another line before and found us having nothing to do all day, that we cared to do. We didnt care for the one show a night they had either. they didnt even have a movie theater, just pay per view and they were all old shows, plus we didnt come to sit in the room.

 

so go with DCL and relax, enjoy and make wonderful memories of your own this time, next time treat the kids.

I will admit the food was way better than DCL but the CM's were rude and very pushy and not friendly at all.

We went on a disney cruise with all 4 of our kids and had a great time,but after saying that, we did think many times how nice the ship would be to come without kids.Many peaople think just because kids are around that you could not possibly have a good time but I do not agree. We plan to go on a disney cruise by ourselves sometime soon. Parents deserve time off too by theirselves without the guilt.I am a very big family person with many vacations a year with the whole family but once a year we do something by ourselves and I never feel guilty because I know we are good parents.If you dont think you will have a good time then dont go because you DESERVE to not feel guilty.

Go with out the kids. We had a blast as we are bid Disney fans anyway. There are a lot of things to do for adults. The adult pool and the adult entertainment area are great.

Our first Disney cruise was a gift from my hubby for our 20th anniversary. I understand how you will feel without the kids but be assured it's a fine cruise for adults. They sat us with 2 other couples who were childless. One on honeymoon, one on belated honeymoon and us. Our daughter was in her later teens but still had to "get over" us going with out her LOL. They have great adult only areas on the ship. Great shows for any age and even an adult's only beach on Castaway Cay, Disney's island. I say, go for it and have a great time.... then start saving for a cruise with the young uns!

I believe you would have a great time on a Disney ship, just the two of you. But if you are like me I'd be missing my kids terribly looking at all of the little ones having a great time!

While on business in Anaheim, I spent the evenings at Disneyland by myself. I spent a lot of time thinking how much the kids would like seeing this or doing that. You'll probably feel the same way on your cruise, especially because it's a Disney cruise. Bring 'em!

I think you will enjoy Disney or you wont...kids aside...so if the itinerary fits the best then I would say go and let the kids join you on your next trip

Me and my wife are going, were both 26, I dont think it will bother me that much
