You all were RIGHT!

Hi All-

I must say I was fairly warned on these boards - cruising is addictive!

We have been on one cruise and loved it so much booked another immediately. My non-vacationing, can't take time away from the business, husband talks about it everyday and he is doing the countdown now too. We now talk about $$ in terms of cruise length. It's not dollars and cents anymore it's a 4 day, 7 day or *gasp* 10 day (our dream). And I'm looking at dd college fund and thinking about all those cruises... haha-I'm jk don't yell. ;)

Our cruise was not perfect but it was by far the most fun and relaxing.

Thanks all for your kind help.

Laura

My name is cruisnfool and I am a cruisaholic.......

Welcome to this world that non cruisers don't "get".

Your statement about the cruise not being perfect makes me wonder why so many people seem to expect a cruise to be perfect.

If the food is not outstanding, service impeccable, weather perfect...etc etc the people get on these boards and whine.

A land based vacation is not perfect.....all travel like life is a risk.

If I have a good time, get there and back safe than I amy happy.

Happy cruising

;) Hey I'm not complaining about a "non" perfect cruise. I just didn't want to mislead anyone new to boards with my gushing, raving, and going on and on about the beautiful blue water...saying cruising is "THE perfect vacation" To someone else it may not have seemed perfect, but to us it was perfectly fabulous!

Thanks guys.

Arizonacruiser- I love it "spending our children's inheritance"... My husband and I were just talking about doing that same thing! haha Oh well, they will have the life insurance. : )

I am married to one of those guys who don't think relaxing by the pool is a fun vacation. His dream trip is to go safari in africa or live with the locals in Zihuatanejo, MX. He also hates water - fear of sharks. I never expected him to enjoy a cruise.

Well, I convinced him to just try one with me. Now he's addicted too. There was enough activity to keep him busy while I relaxed in the sun. We booked exciting excursions. He loved the bartenders in the Colony Club, and looking out the back of the ship to see the wake. He even loved participating in Quest. We enjoyed each others company, ate too much food, met fun people and just enjoyed life. That to us is a perfect vacation.

He woke up on day five of our cruise and led me to the Loyalty Ambassadors office to put our deposit down for the next cruise. He's already looking forward to it just as much as me.

Yes, cruising is addicting. More than I ever expected!

I'm glad you enjoyed your cruise. Ever since our DD was married on a cruiseship, we've been addicted to cruising too. It's been nearly six years now. Once your kids are thru college, you can plan multiple cruises each year.

We just returned from a week in Hawaii with a weekend stop in Vegas. The whole time we were on vacation DH kept saying he really missed being on a cruiseship because everything is right there. He can go to the casino and I can read my favorite books. We never have to travel very far for a nice meal. Most of all, we really enjoy the entertainment on a ship. Everything is so convenient on a ship compared to land based vacations.

After spending nearly 12 days driving a car, we are exhausted. We never feel this way after our cruises. At least we are sailing again Oct 28 from our homeport of Boston to the Caribbean and Aruba on RCCL Jewel of the Seas (one of my favorite ships). We'll have all summer to look forward to this cruise.

This past year we enjoyed a 3 night Carnival cruise from Port Canaveral, a 5 night NCL Pearl cruise tied in with a couple nights on South Beach, and we even spent the Superbowl on a 12 night cruise from NJ on Explorer of the Seas (RCCL). All I need is to find a Princess cruise and I will have all of my favorite cruiselines covered. What's funny is that DH said he thought the entertainment on our short 3 night Carnival cruise was better than our 12 night RCCL cruise.

I hope that five years from now that you will enjoy cruising as much as we do.

Try booking him a Mexican Riviera cruise on Carnival Spirit because they stop in Zihuantenjo. We loved that itinerary last year on NCL Star. Unfortunately, NCL changed its itinerary for 2009. Only Carnival Spirit does Alcapulco and Zihuantenjo/Ixtapa. I just may be booking that myself because Ixtapa is absoultely gorgeous!

My husband always worked when we would vacation; I'd be by the pool at a condo with the kids, and he'd be on the balcony with his laptop. He never could relax, nor did he get very excited about vacations. He had a good time, but he did it more for the rest of the family.

We'll be going on our 3rd cruise in June, and he actually gets excited and talks about going. We had dinner tonight with some friends who will be joining us (he's never cruised; she's done a 3 day Carnival) on Mariner, and my husband went on and on about what a great time they're going to have. :D

I can't imagine a better vacation. We all work too hard, we deserve to have "something to look forward to."
