Drop the bags and all extra pax except the driver at the port. Only the driver has to walk. And no bags to schlep (I love that word-use it for everything).

That would work. As long as the person doing the walking was comfortable going around NY by themselves. But then, don't forget you would have to do the same thing in reverse on the day you come home.

Knowing us, we'd end up in a taxi. Which would negate any savings that would come with parking that far from the port.
