kelmac Posted April 2, 2008 #1 Share Posted April 2, 2008 Lauren and I just got off the Constellation and had a wonderful time! :) Waffles were better than ever and they had four irons going with two guys at the helm. The station is aft of the buffet (sandwich station at noon). Helpful hints: --two different lines lead to the waffles -- most people only see the port side for some reason?? --order waffles, add stuff located behind you on a small railing (blueberry sauce -- yum!), hand back to the guys and have them add the necessary whipped cream! --they have bacon, sausage... at the waffle station as well. So anyway, this somewhat large lady from deep in the heart of Texas says, "Hey, Ya'll can u fix me up wit some extra crispie on them waffles?" Good news -- they had no idea what she said, and they gave her two perfect cooked fluffy waffles. :)

kelmac Posted April 2, 2008 Author #5 Share Posted April 2, 2008 Hi there, pleaes tell me more! We have never sailed on Celebrity and thinking of booking on the Constellation. THANKS Gerry Hi Gerry, After 30 cruises, we think the Millennium class ships of Celebrity are still the "best bang for the cruise buck"! Wonderful ships, with great food, superior service, and a relaxed, uncrowded feel. Enjoy! Kel
Andy Posted April 2, 2008 #6 Share Posted April 2, 2008 Hi Everyone, and Especially Ed ! Sorry, but I have to disagree. The Waffles on Celebrity have always been great, but not this Cruise. We thought the Waffles were horrible. The only good news is, the batter is the same, but they clearly didnt have any interest in cooking them properly. We tried them the first few days, and they kept coming out very undercooked. They were always mushy, and not crispy at all. When I asked if they would make it more well done, the person behind the counter was very rude, and said "That's the way it is. We have a long line, and we have to feed the people". I see, serve them garbage, and move on. Not good at all. Personally, I would have rather waited an extra few minutes on line, and had the waffles cooked the right way ! I even went and showed the Waffle to one of the Maitre'ds. He was very sincere, and said he would take care of it immediately. I tried the Waffles again the next day.... same problems, and this time, there was NO line at all. Tried the Waffles again the following day.... same result. I gave up, and never had any more Waffles for the rest of the Cruise. All I can say Ed, is you wouldnt have been a Happy Camper at all :(

Never liked over cooked waffles, so I thought they were great. Perhaps they should set 1/2 the irons for a dark brown finish and the other half for a light brown. I did notice they had different guys back there each day, so maybe it was the luck of the draw? Enjoy! Kel
Andy Posted April 2, 2008 #10 Share Posted April 2, 2008 Host Andy, I suspect that your post is simply a thinly veiled effort to keep all of the waffles for YOURSELF! ;) Hi Usha ! LOL !!!!!! Normally, you might be right about that.... but not this Cruise. If our sampling is how Celebrity wants them cooked, they can keep them from now on. As Kelmac said, normally, I would subscribe to the luck of the draw theory, but when it happened 3 days in a row, AND I told management about it, AND they did nothing about it, one has to wonder if this is how they want it cooked. All of us in our party were very disappointed, as the Waffles are often part of our breakfast. We have always been used to them being fairly crispy on Celebrity, and I do think a Waffle tastes best that way. Of course, that is a personal preference. eskie Posted April 2, 2008 #13 Share Posted April 2, 2008 Thanks for your reply. My husband likes to smoke a cigar while we cruise. Did you see anyone smoking cigars ? Last time I saw anyone smoke a cigar on a cruise, was Tahiti, and we had a large Brazilian contingent who enjoyed a fine cigar on New Years Eve on the deck. Otherwise, I don't think I remember seeing anyone any where around the ship...maybe on the balcony of their room?

sn2792 Posted April 3, 2008 #20 Share Posted April 3, 2008 My DH and I just got off Constellation. This was our first time on Celebrity and we were addicted to the Waffles. We had them almost every day. We both thought they were great. Here is my comparison to RCCL which is where we have done 11 cruises. Cabin - Layout better on Celebrity Balcony - RCCL is better - Balcony is deeper on RCCL Bathroom - Celebrity has bigger shower, you can bend over and pick up the soap without touching the sides Food - Breakfast and Lunch Food, much better selection on Celebrity in buffet - RCCL has a better layout for their buffet with the stations - Dinner - I prefer RCCL Specialty Restaurant - Ocean Liners - It was great but not any better than CHOPS or Portafinos - Tie Adult Pool - Celebrity T-Pool was really relaxing Entertainment - RCCL - we were bored with Celebrity entertainment Elevators - Celebrity - Never had trouble getting an Elevator - RCCL, you wait forever Shore Excursion Staff - RCCL - Very dissapointed in Celebrity, they did not seem organized, we almost missed our excursion in Barbados because we had to take busses to the terminal. I felt that those with excursions should have been given priority on getting to the terminal Guest Relations - Celebrity was excellent. We couldn't check our sea pass balance on the TV, so we went to Guest Relations and asked for a copy. They sent us a copy to our room every day and a basket of fruit for two days. It wasn't a big deal to us to go ask for it. That was very impressive. Casino was very good to us and we had great fun at the Blackjack and craps tables. All in all, a great cruise, we prefer RCCL, but would defintely cruise Celebrity again

We were there around 9:30-10am each day... and had no problem with the crispness!! I sure wish I had a couple of those waffles right now!!! On the 3rd day we discovered the "second" line... nice little secret! :D Michelle
