A year later - what to expect?

Last May we did the Pacific coastal repositioning our Patters showed dinner fees for Sabatinis was $20 and Sterling was $15. Do I understand correctly that Sabatinis is now $30 and Sterling now $20? What other increases have their been? What is the current fee for soda cards? What is the breakfast room service menu like for non suites? Do they still do the sailaway party and raffle? For anytime dining does each restaurant still have a special entree for the room? I like reviewing my old patters to get to recall the things I liked about my last Princess cruise but I wonder what is the same and what will be new?

That's interesting, I think Sterlings Steakhouse has been $15 pp for some time now, at least it has been for the last several years on every ship we have sailed on. (heck, I can still remember back when it was $6 pp in the good old days). Sabatinis seems to fluxuate, I have seen different prices over the years and have not dined there in some time so not sure about that one.

Soda Cards are $3.95 plus 15% gratuity per day per person (which is a sticker on your cruise card, not actually a seperate card).

A raffle at sailaway? Now that is something new I don't think I have heard of before. They still have a sailaway party, usually by the pool with music, but I don't remember any raffle.

Room Service in non-suites is now pretty much only continental breakfast items. Only full suites are offered a full breakfast, lunch or dinner menu in their suites. For the rest of the time, it is mainly sandwiches, salads, and a few small desserts and coffee/tea.

I try hard not to look at old patters as it just reminds me what used to be offered and no longer exists. :(

How things have changed. When we first sailed on the brand new Grand Princess in November 1998, charge for Sabatini was $3.50p.p. We had to book it 6 months in advance, and book the cruise 18 months, before she was even completed. That were good old days.

Still today, 36 cruises later - Grand Princess is my favorite ship.

On some of the Princess ships they did give away raffle tickets during sailaway. On others they did not. I have no idea what the prize(s) may have been.

I suspect the purpose is to encourage attendence and buy more drinks.

Here's how the raffle worked...staff from the casino, computer at sea, fitness studio, spa etc would give out raffle tickets to those who visited their tables set out by the pool or they gave them to folks dancing to the music by the pool. They would then put all the tickets in a container and draw out numbers during the sailaway party. The prizes were dinners at the specialty restaurant, a free computer class, free casino play etc.
