Where Should We Go

We just went to the beach and had a great day! The history and architecture of these islands doesn't interest us at all--so why waste a great climate and all that sunshine touring?

Hubby rented a waverunner, we had a great (but expensive) lunch, beer and a wonderful beach day! Cabs/buses are at the tender pier, just waiting for you! Very easy!

We also walked around the shops in the port--bought a very few little items. (GC is pretty expensive!)

There is only 1 main road around the island, and it tends to get a lot of traffic, so watch out for jams--you don't want to get held up and miss the ship!

We hired a driver and went to Rum Point.... the most beautiful place on the island.

We did not do the regular tour we asked only to be brought to Rum POint but the driver was great he narrated during our trip. We spent 3 hours there and then returned to the ship....

Do a search on Rum point and you will find great pictures

RUDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hahaha, not very often you can say that factually!

I wondered when someone was going to pick up on the fact that there is an excursion to Hell in Grand Cayman. :p :p I even sent post cards to friends and family from their post office, it's just a tiny touristy area where you see some black sharp rocks and mostly a gift shop to take your money!!! :p Glad someone finally got it!!! :D

Do you remember how much for the driver? We would be in Grand Cayman from 7-2. Is this enough time to go to Rum Point? Did your driver come back for you or are there taxis there?

It's 45 minutes to Rum Point, about a $75 taxi ride. There are no taxis waiting there, so you'd have to prearrange your return trip (which is another 45 minutes and $75).

If you get one of the first tenders, and are on shore by 8am, that means you'd be out at Rum Point for about 9am (depending on traffic). Usually the last tenders are about 30-60 minutes before the ship leaves, so assume you'd need to be back to the port area by 1pm. That means you'd have to leave Rum Point by noon at the latest, so you could have up to three hours there, depending on how fast you can get off the ship in the morning. It means you wouldn't have time to do anything else, but it's technically doable.

Most people that go out to Rum Point on their own (instead of with a tour) rent a car for the day...it's cheaper than a taxi, and then you have control of your own schedule for the day.

Some good advise already posted on here. Avoid the taxis - they are rip off merchants and drive like idiots. Hire a bike or car.

Hell really isn't worth the effort - so don't bother.

Stingray City an absolute must - this is one memory of Cayman you will never lose.

Rum Point - lovely chill out.....can get busy and touristy, but its ok.

Top Tips: Over The Edge bar/restaurant on Northside (on way to Rum Point). Legends on 7 Mile Beach (West Bay Road) best value food and drink. Sunset Bar (South Church Street).

Avoid the tourist shops - full of expensive junk.

Snorkel as you have never snorkelled before - fantastic! Best way is free of charge while on Stingray City tour with Moby Dick.

Visit East End - much better than the 7 Mile Beach haunts.

Virtually no traffic once you are out of George Town - especially with the new by-pass.
