Great idea, Robin. So if anyone has questions about the ship or ports post here and one of us will try and get back to you with answers. We have a great CC group on this cruise and most are very experienced cruisers. We've been waiting for this cruise for over a year. I can't believe we are almost ready to go.

Sounds great....Have a great time....We are either going NEXT April, OR, if there is a Sept. 2009 version we may switch for that one...but either way NEXT year we'll be going on the same cruise....and I am sure we'll have lots of questions......

Bon voyage............

Hi, No you are not doing anything wrong! The Island Princess web cam does only show what the camera is pointed at. Sometimes it has been on the upper deck by the wading pool. You are correct now, it is pointed out to sea. Still you can follow along our 19 days and check out our ports and on April 30th we will be going through the Panama Canal.

We will be entering the MiraFlores canal 1st on the Pacific side. We traverse 2 locks, turning around in Gatun Lake. We will then return through the same 2 locks later that day. If you use the Canal web cam you will at some point see all of us out on the decks and balconys! Their cams come that close!

So come along for the ride!

Come on along. We will try to keep a running blog going on our 19 day Panama canal cruise.

Today at embarkation we will be wearing Chile pepper beads as a way of identifying each other.

We did have a pre meet and greet dinner on Sat. for those CCer's that arrived early. It was a great evening. Good food, Great company!

We have our own Meet and Greet set up for tomorrow at 11 AM in the Wheelhouse bar.

We have a great group of CCer's and are looking forward to this cruise.

Hi Everyone,

Today is our first day at sea. Embarkation yesterday was a breeze in San Pedro/ Port of Los Angeles.. No problems. I was on the ship before noon. It was organzied and smooth. I had lunch in the dinning room on embarkation day. There also was the horizon court buffet open. I enjoyed the sit down lunch. Few people know about the dinning room being open on the first day until 1:30.

the weather today started out sunny and warm and is now much cooler. Smooth sea.

There are many activities at sea. If any one has any special questions let me know.

We have our first Formal tonight. one of 4:eek: . All of us packed for 3 as that is what our information printed was. Well, the Patter states that we will have an additional one. It is the Captains welcome party as well.

There are some great sails on gems today. This evenig the casino will be Smoke Free from 6 pm to midnight. As a non smoker I find that to be a Winning bonus!!:D

My cabin is C 706. It is a wonderful stateroom Aft/Port. Mini suite. Very nice amenities. HUGE bath tub!! I am 6' and I fit! Very Nice! I was stocked with The Lotus spa shampoo, conditioner, bath gel and lotion. The towels and bedding are very nice. Yes, the bed was comfortable. I will not be needing the egg crate.:) My balcony is large. It is 1/2 covered and 1/2 not. I have 2 Lounge/ reclining chairs. 2 reg. chairs and a table large enough to enjoy cards or dinning. The furniture is metal / resin. Fire retardent. The seats are plastic mesh fabric. No cushions. There is a rubber mat on the surface of the deck.

So far the food has been very good. I actually oppted for the buffet last night and was served a most beautiful fresh carved slice of Prime rib. Never better.

We had our first Cruise critic meet and greet today that we put together our selves. It was not Princess hosted. Wow nearly everyone made it. It was wonderful to meet so many great people. We will be having more gatherings, the next will be our next sea day.

Tomorrow is Cabo. Should be nice weather. I do not have any excurtions planned for here as I have been here many times. I will be getting off with some of my Cruise critic friends and shopping and finding a beer;)

I will check back here soon. Let me know if there are any questions.

Robin

Hi Robin,

Thanks for taking the BDC Film Crew along in spirit! Is the IP still in the great shape we left her in last Feb? Are any of the crew the same? I have a note on the windshield for April 30 to see you in the canal. I will pull up the cam and leave it on all day. I get so excited just reading your posts!

We were in Carlisle, PA for 2 1/2 days, now going to Denver. Happy sailing!

Hi Robin!

Another member of the "IIDO" Hawaii crew checking in, watching your cruise via webcam. So glad everything has gone smoothly for you so far!

Glad you like your mini-suite...makes me look forward to our aft mini we have booked, especially having the bathtub!

Have you seen any of our "friends" in the dining room? ;)

Are Ana and Julio still serving? :)

I'm sure the Island is as beautiful as we left her last year....sigh...

Have a great time in Cabo!

I would appreciate it if you ask at a bar what the recipe for the Passionada cocktail is.

I know it has Grey Goose vodka, triple sec and Fresh passion fruit, but I do not know the quanities or if there are other ingredients.

Thanks

Thanks so much for the live thread. My In-Laws just signed up to do this cruise in September after much urging from us. It will be their first cruise and I'm eager to share the great info from this thread with them.

Bucky, I know you're also on this sailing. If you read this thread I just wanted to say I hope you are having a fabulous time!!

Lady45 I have not had a chance to dance in the Wheelhouse. But I do agree the live entertainment on the ship is very good. I am looking forward and will let you know more as the cruise goes.

Last night we saw the Comidian he was pretty funny but his name slips at the moment. I can give that info later if anyone cares.

We saw the production of the Piano Man tonight. It was very good.

Wish you could be her too Colo Cruiser!

Yeah, BDC film crew on the Island again! Or at least part of us but I am glad you are following along!

Terry and Cindy I wish you all were here!! No none of our familiar crew are here anymore. All new faces except for a couple old timers. Paula is back on the Island in the Lotus Spa and a few of the Resturant Head waiters/ resturant managers. They had the " I remember you looks an nods". The CD and Greatfully the Pursers desk are differant.

The ship is just a beautifull and she always has been!

Caribil I will check with the bar tender tomorrow, We have another gathering of the Cruise Critics in Crooners at 10 tomorrow. Passionata's huh? I will find out;)

Karatemom2 You parents will really enjoy themselves. It is one of the nicest ships I have been on. I don't know their age group, but the average age on the ship is over 65. The joke is the disco is open at 11:30 and closes by Midnight because all the Party animals are fast asleep! :D

There is a wide range of activities on board for all ages.

The big selling point for the Island and her sister Coral are that they have the Largest public spaces of ALL the Princess ships! Very well laid out.

We are enjoying great weather. Smooth seas. Little wind. Outstanding Cruise critic friends on board. We are really getting to know each other and are planning more gatherings.

Today was Cabo, It was a short day. I did not take an excursion and enjoyed instead a stroll around the harbor and a cold Sol Cervesa. There were 2 ships in the Ryndam was first so we anchored father out. Cabo is a Tender port. There are an abundance of shops and clubs. Like Cabo Wabo's and Giggling Marland. There is even a Sams Club and a Costco. It is NOT the rustic quaint fishing villiage it once was not so very long ago. It is a growing Tourist destination. But the water is clear and clean and view of Los Arcos is just breath taking.

One of our Cruise critic friends went on a fishing excursion and came back with a Striped Marlin!!!! Wha hooo!!!

The slots are tight so far but the casino sees plenty of action.

Tomorrow is a sea day. I think I will just relax and catch some sun after meeting up with our fellow CCers.

the 25th is Acapulco!!!!

Talk to you soon!

Robin
