Giving Conquest a try this August....

A few questions:

1. Kids program? Pros, Cons from those who have used it?

2. Documents? Electronic or paper with CC, which is easier?

3. Galveston Check-in. RCI has it down to a science, can we assume CC does also?

4.Casino? Live dealers or has Carnival (Conquest) moved to some of those electronic tables?

5. Recommendations for specialty dining on Conquest, Yes? No? etc...

thanks!!!!!

Iv heard some like one, some prefer the other, cant tell which is better

Your choice. Once you click on edocs though you cant go back to paper. Carnival prints out full sized luggage tags you need to put clear packing tape over to use them. (not like RCLs minature luggage tags).

3. Galveston Check-in. RCI has it down to a science, can we assume CC does also?

CCL actually has more lines for customs and does a better job than RCL here.

4.Casino? Live dealers or has Carnival (Conquest) moved to some of those electronic tables?

Someone just posted a 9.5 out of 10 and everyone says the $30 is well spent, would cost $100 in a regular restaurant.

thanks!!!!!

Dont forget Sur Mer up above the pool or the sushi bar down by the childrens area. Many like Sur Mer. both are free.

Have to click to enlarge maybe, but here is the post of the menu for Sur Mer

1. No kids, so can't speak to that.

2. Up to you. Doesn't really make a difference. I prefer electronic - no need to print them. Just print Fun Pass and luggage tags. One less thing to bring with you.

3. Never sailed Galveston, but Carnival's embarkation is very easy in general.

4. Live dealers

5. The supper club is well worth the $30 charge. I've eaten in many of the country's top steakhouses, and this is comparable.

Enjoy your cruise!

Don't know about the kid stuff

Electronic documents are easily printed thus making paper docs(sorry that's my nature)

We've been on one cruise and it was out of Galveston. We were at the pier and on the boat within 30 minutes and that was with bathroom breaks and at noontime. If it can get better than that it wouldn't matter much to me.

Live dealers but also a fair share of electronic games. Do the BlackJack tourney it was a blast

We didn't go to the Pointe Supper club and we regret it. Great Pizza, Great deli sandwiches, Great seafood at Sur Mer, Awesome Sushi near the casino. Burgers and dogs. Plenty of good food to eat.

And last but not least, join the conquest crazies as we watch the ships come in and out of port on sundays.

I have more Carnival cruises than RCL cruises but near the same number of days on each line.

Just addressing food and service.

Specialty Dinner Club on Carnival FAR, FAR, superior to RCL.

Dining room food on Carnival a bit better than RCL, except beef. Neither line good with beef in the dining room, but Carnival much better. [not good, but much better]

Overall buffet, RCL is better, but Carnival's deli and Mongolian BBQ, and pizza miles and miles ahead of RCL.

And RCL's Voyager class and up ships are above anything anyone else has. RCL ships have more WOW! Carnival ships, more Las Vegas. But both comfortable to me. RCL service better 99 to 98.

1. Camp carnival is awesome.

2.Edocs are easier but if you prefer paper you can do that too. You can fill in everything and check in takes 5 minutes then.

3.Carnival check in for us has taken less than 30 minutes from drop off to boarding RCI takes longer . I think that is why they offer lemonade and cookies while in the lines

4.don't know about the casinos

5.The supper club is beyond compare on any ship. Try it.

One more thing. RCI does have a better set up in their buffet restaurants. Traffic flow is better and they also serve your drinks instead of you lining up to fill your own cup.

Can't compare the two lines, but can say that we've been very satisfied with Camp Carnival. Our first cruise ever, our youngest was 25 months. She'll be 5.5 on our next trip, and our oldest will be 9.

The kids LOVE, LOVE Camp, and we LOVE that the kids love it! :p We've been on several different classes of ships and several fairly divergent itineraries, and we've felt the Camp was run to a consistently high standard always. To some degree, procedures have varied due to the number of kids on board, but whether our kids were 2 of nearly 800, to 2 of less than 30, they've had a good time, and we've been satisfied with the counselors and the program.

I hope you also have a positive experience! :)

We hated that RCL wouldnt let us fix our our drinks on my last RCL cruise and Iv seen other posts from folks unhappy with it too. uck. I want to put in a certain amount of ice and fix it myself. They hide the glasses and pretty much wouldnt let me fix a glass, had to settle for watered down lemonaide. The lemonaide and ice tea just sits with the ice melting. I like mine strong as I can get it. I found this totally annoying, so I guess thats why its so personal what each likes.
