herling Posted May 12, 2008 #1 Share Posted May 12, 2008 Does anyone have recommendations for luggage that holds up well for a flight from California to Venice,Italy for a 14 day cruise? Thanks, herling
alcpa1 Posted May 12, 2008 #2 Share Posted May 12, 2008 There are a number of post dealing with luggage that you might want to check out. It would be very helpful if you would post some parameters, like cost. We use a combo of light weight duffles [with wheels] and at least one light weight 26" for our formal wear and dress clothes. Another poster may recommend hard siders. We find mid price luggage acceptable while others do just fine with pieces from Target and Wal Mart. Venice presents it's own challenges when dealing with luggage, even the roll aboards can be difficult to maneuver when navigating the cobbled and often crowded passageways and bridges. Others will surely post. Have a wonderful cruise!
AF-1 Posted May 12, 2008 #3 Share Posted May 12, 2008 Hi I'm a flight crew member and have been using Travel Pro luggage for years. You can buy it at Macy's and other department stores, you can buy it online at Lazaars Luggage, (which is in CA), or directly from Travel pro online store. I have been using it for ten years and have never had it break. There are different sizes and it's made to be handled rough. Hope this helps. cb at sea Posted May 12, 2008 #4 Share Posted May 12, 2008 If it's new, any kind should "hold up" just fine! We try to buy the absolute lightest weight we can fine--it really helps with the weight restrictions on the planes. On the ship, you could bring a steamer trunk-- (200 lbs per person) and it won't matter! The airlines are what restrict your packing habits!
