First time on RCI. Thinking of taking Enchantment of the Seas to Western Caribbean. How are the cabins on deck 3 and 4? Is it worth while to spend the extra cash for a larger room with verandah?

Im sorry I can't help you, but if there are balcony rooms avalible go with it they are vary nice to have. Nomatter what room you go with it will be nice because your on Royal, and congradulations on booking your first cruise.

It really depends.

The fare REALLY jumps on the Enchantment to go from OV to D category. Since your cruise is only 4 or 5 days, you may not miss a balcony.

Just my thoughts. :)

Having been on many cruises, we do not opt for balconies (and usually not even for ocean view) because we find that we spend so little time in the cabin. We find that we'd rather put the extra $$ into excursions.

It's only an opinion, but we don't feel like we've missed anything by being on decks 3 or 4.

Our very first cruise was on the Enchantment. We stayed in an OV on deck 2 which is the same size as the OVs on decks 3 & 4, 154 sf. We had heard horror stories about how small the rooms are on (all) cruise ships. We were surprised at how big the room was. While not huge, there was plenty of room for us to move around, get dressed or relax. We have been in rooms since then where 2 people can't change clothes at the same time. The rooms on Enchantment shoud be plenty big enough for you, depending on what you like to do. The only time we are in our room is to change clothes or sleep. We never "hang out" there.

We no longer splurge for balcony cabins. When we've had them, we found that we didn't really use them - it gets awfully hot and steamy out there, and the "neighbors" smoke and other sounds drift over. It's not always so pleasant.

There are many quiet outdoor spaces in public areas of the ship, like the outdoor promenade on deck 4 were you can sit in a lounge chair reading, or sipping coffee, creating your own faux-balcony experience.

To us, a balcony is only worth it if the cost difference if very small. Otherwise, we'd much rather put the money towards a pre-cruise hotel stay, or towards excursions, or even towards our next cruise.
