:) :) Vancouver is a beautiful city!! You can stay any downtown Hotel. Cruise terminal is right at the north side of down town. Vancouver down town is walk able, but stay away from, any hotel on Granville Street. Just beside the Pan Pacific Hotel is the main cruise terminal. Second one is about a mile east of main terminal. From air port (YVR) to down town by taxi is about half an hour. Hope you will have a great time in Vancouver….:) :)

There so many hotels in downtown Vancouver its very hard to come up with a recommendation with out having a budget number to work with. Why don't you have a look on Hotels.ca, come up with some ideas and we in Vancouver will give you our thoughts. In September with schools being back in you may hit something in the $150 to $200 range that is very good. We have seen some deals at the Hyatt Regency in that range. Once you have a few in mind it may also be a good idea to try Priceline. However don't give up on us, we will be happy to help you.

If you are leaving from Canada Place the Pan Pacific is great. Tag your luggage and give it to the bell guy and take the elevator down to the cruise terminal. If you are leaving from Ballentyne? any of the 4* hotels are great. You will have a taxi ride in the morning.

Vancouver is full of great hotels, and all are within a short cab ride to the pier. Our favorite is the Wedgewood. It was voted as one of the best hotels in Canada. My suggestion is to bite the bullit and go to a first class hotel. Most everything in Vancouver is within walking distance and there is much to be enjoyed. Vancouver is a great city. Have a great time and a great cruise.

First, note that (in Sept) Celebrity Infinity goes out of Canada Place, where as Millenium docks at Ballantyne pier, located about 1.5 miles east of downtown.

CANADA PLACE:

If you're looking for the ultimate in convenience, the Pan Pacific is located at Canada Place cruise terminal (literally take the elevator down and you're there) or the Fairmont Waterfront is across the street.

BALLANTYNE:

I would not recommend you stay near Ballantyne, it's a rough and tumble part of town you wont appreciate. Either way, there are good hotels for reasonable rates (you'll find Sept a lot cheaper too!) available downtown, and it's a short cab ride.

A good alternative to a hotel if you are planning on staying a few days is a short term condo rental. Friends of ours always go this route and book through www.ownerdirect.com. They usually pay less than a hotel and have all the amenities of home (they prefer being able to cook and have a kitchen). Last time they stayed in September, they got a 1 bedroom on Robson Street for $100 a night - way cheaper than a hotel!

I don't know much about hotels since I live in Vancouver, but if you are inquiring about transport, there are usually much cheaper fares than by taxi if you take a shuttle bus. There are 2 companies that I know if that provide Airport to Cruise Ship Terminal transfers - they have dedicated service.

We stayed pre-cruise at the Fairmont Waterfront. Very nice hotel with a great lobby bar. We made great friends with the bartender who treated us to his martini expertise. Very friendly property.

Post-cruise we had bought a room at the Sheraton Wall Centre through Hotwire. Upon arrival at the property, we were told that they were sold out and had been bumped...to the Pan Pacific.

The Pan Pacific was great and expansive with tremendous views from our room. But, frankly, we found the Fairmont more to our liking and ended back there in the evening for cocktails and conversation. Either of these properties would be awesome for you though. Great location near the pier, short walks to Gastown and other areas of downtown Vancouver.

Hi

I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume that price isn't too much of a concern. If you want to be close to the terminal - choose the Fairmont Waterfront, right across from the pier at Canada Place. Fairmont is a "class act" - you'll receive great service. They have a pre-cruise package that includes breakfast and they will also get your bags to the terminal for you.

The Pan Pacific is very nice, just not as intimate as the Fairmont.

If staying close oto the terminal isn't a priority, the Westin Bayshore on the doorstep of Stanley Park is a great place to stay, and the Wedgewood, in the hear of dowtown (mentioned by a previous poster) is a lovely boutique hotel.

Hope that helps.

If you suffer from "sticker shock" after seeing rack rates at the Pan Pacific and Fairmont's Waterfront then you may want to check the Hyatt Regency on Burrard St, which is about 4 blocks from Canada Place, we have been hearing of rates in the $150 to $200 there. Cab fare into the city will run $35/40 or if you use Airporter it is $13.50 pp.

I got the Hyatt Regency for $122 on Priceline.

:)Since Celebrity leaves from ballantyne Pier, I would suggest a hotel in the main downtown area. The Pan Pacific and so is the Fairmont waterfront across the street. If you want to stay in a hotel built in the 1930's stay in the Fairmont Vancouver Hotel . Was built by the CPR in the 1930's.There is a Day's Inn, Holiday Inn in the area. You could try the Sandman Inn & Suites(BC Chain).

To get from YVR to downtown us the Airport Shuttle , runs every 20 min and stops at all the hotels downtown.
