Jujubee627 Posted June 5, 2008 #1 Share Posted June 5, 2008 The Celebrity dress code says that jeans are not allowed in the main dining room after 6:00 pm. Does this mean blue jeans or jeans of all types? For casual nights, I am wondering if it would be OK to wear tan colored or black jeans with a nice top. We are traveling on the Celebrity Infinity June 13th to Alaska. What do you all think? I have other outfits I could wear if that would be out of place. ballet2410 Posted June 5, 2008 #2 Share Posted June 5, 2008 I have never cruised with Celebrity, but I figure if the dress code states "no jeans allowed in the dining room after 6pm" then any color of jeans would not be appropriate. To me, jeans are jeans regardless of the color. My mom and dad just cmae back from their Alaska cruise Sunday and I think my mother brought black dress pants for dinner or something of that nature. Have fun!!

Judy Hi Judy,:) I sail Celebrity quite frequently and it is stated in the daily no jeans in the main dining room after 6. It does not state the color but even on casual nights I don't wear them. I will wear them in Alaska during the day though:) As for dinner time, I enjoy dressing up even on casual nights so jeans are not part of my evening attire. (not "formal wear" on a casual evening), but, I would probably wear a pretty skirt and top or a pair of silk pants with a nice top, something in that arena. I just enjoy the entire ambiance of the evening. As for feeling out of place, that is up to the individual. Since you are asking, wear the jeans during the day:D and put something else on for dinner.;) Now, I hope I don't get flamed to death for my reply...maybe I should put my fire retardent suit on:eek: Oh have fun on Infinity and enjoy Alaska. I am going for the 2nd time in September too!

I wore Khakis with a nice top recently on the Galaxy (a casual night) and I felt underdressed, but that was my personal feeling.
iheartbda Posted June 5, 2008 #6 Share Posted June 5, 2008 You certainly shouldn't since you have so many sailings on Celebrity and speak from first hand experience.:) :) Let's see.:p A a rose but any other name... I am going for the 2nd time in September too! Thanks for the info and comments. I was feeling very unsure about the color jeans, even though they are nice looking styles. I have a long black and white gauze dress, a casual skirt, and some fancy capris that I will take instead for casual nights. I'll just wear the jeans during the day. Thanks everyone for the feedback. Webster's Definition: not any <no parking> <no disputing the decision> This is usually not too difficult for anyone above the age of 3 to understand, so try real hard. NO JEANS IN THE DINING ROOM There - now they can flame me! DH and I do not even pack jeans when we go on a Celebrity Cruise - Carnival maybe - not Celebrity. JJPNYC Posted June 12, 2008 #11 Share Posted June 12, 2008 The way I look at it, it should be broadened to say no denim for dinner in the dining room. Irregardless of the color, denim is still denim. I always get a kick out of people who try to make a case for jeans by saying that it's a "Designer" pair that cost $100. Like the price they paid makes it any different. Some DO think it makes a difference along with the ones who will be wearing a dressy top and heels with the jeans.:D I like jeans and wear them but I'm so tired of seeing them EVERYWHERE. The old "comfortable" argument gets old as well. Unless you're in a suit of armour or an ante bellum laced up can't breathe gown, what clothes aren't comfortable?:p
esther e Posted June 12, 2008 #13 Share Posted June 12, 2008 Could someone please tell me what "dressy capris" are? Is that like jumbo shrimp? Or a little pregnant? Help me understand this anomaly. Thanks.

GORDONCHICK Posted June 12, 2008 #15 Share Posted June 12, 2008 Could someone please tell me what "dressy capris" are? Is that like jumbo shrimp? Or a little pregnant? Help me understand this anomaly. Thanks. There are dressy capris made out of different dressy fabrics like silk shantung, etc. It's really not an anomoly. It's been discussed here several times that the type of fabric can make somethings dressier or less dressy. I don't know that I've seen any dressy enough to technically considered formal though (or even informal) but I've seen plenty that were fine for casual nights on X, though it was in the Caribbean

Sailorgirlseattle Posted June 12, 2008 #19 Share Posted June 12, 2008 LOL at this thread. I am definitely a jeans-and-dressy-top-with-heels girl .. but that's for a fun night out on the town, not a cruise ship. Although, if I COULD get away with it onboard ... As for dressy capris, I take this to mean a chic-er color, like stark black or white, and unfussy straight-leg styles. Undressy capris would be your khaki's and your cargo styles with drawstrings on the bottom hem, etc. With the simpler styles you can really dress them up quite a bit with a nice top and some high-heeled sandals. Texaswinediva Posted June 13, 2008 #20 Share Posted June 13, 2008 I wore capris to dinner one night on Holland America. It was a satiny fabric and it had a matching jacket to go with it. It made it look a little more dressy than just a pair of capris and a blouse. It was in an iridescent lime green color and I wore a black shell under the jacket with black heels.:) That was a few years ago, wish I could still fit into that outfit!!!:( Capris are like sandals, some are dressy and some are not dressy.:p
pcur Posted June 14, 2008 #21 Share Posted June 14, 2008 I agree with Lois: most dining room dress, even on casual night, is on the more dressy side on Celebrity. I think basic black pants with nice tops works fine. Maybe it's just me, but when I see a pair of capris, no matter what the fabric, I immediately think very casual.
